The next Federal Election - 2013 or 2012?

I read somewhere, can't recall ATM, Oakshot would like to move or support a vote of no-confidence in the government but can't until sometime in August because he will lose too many entitlements if does before hand.

Has anyone else come across it?

Supposing the majority did want "action" (...which I don't believe for a moment.
The majority absolutely did not at the last election.
There was some years ago an idealistic agreement that "something should be done" about "climate change". That was about the time Rudd proposed the ETS and when it looked vaguely as though the rest of the world would do likewise.
It all fell over at Copenhagen and has been going downhill ever since, as we all know.

Even the most faithful adherents of the AGW hypothesis aren't actually doing anything), such action, if costly should be effective at reducing co2 emissions should it not?

I think we have all agreed that the carbon tax does nothing at best and will most likely increase co2 emissions once production is shifted offshore.
Exactly. Which goes part of the way to explaining the disapprobation directed toward the government from the electorate, but probably even more of a problem is the broken promise of "There will be no carbon tax under the government I lead", a statement on the basis of which she received many votes.

Hence the massive distrust now of the electorate, combined with her multiple continuing stuff ups, most specifically the current Slipper and Thomson affairs.

So she rushes out today and declares that the National Disability Scheme will start a year earlier in a pathetic attempt to save her own skin.

Much too late, Ms Gillard. No one is listening any more.

The overwhelming majority at the last election also wanted 'action on boatpeople'. Well we sure got lots of action. Just none of it did any good, when all the inaction that was needed was for Rudd/Gillard/Evans to do NOTHING when they took over.

The whole boatpeople thing is utterly retarded and detracts from the things that matter in politics imo.

I think we have all agreed that the carbon tax does nothing at best and will most likely increase co2 emissions once production is shifted offshore.

But this way the liberals that want action can feel good about living in Australia, sitting up high in their ivory tower offices. Sad but true.

It is funny, how all polls in Australia always showed the majority wanted action on climate change, but now with the best possible market-oriented approach taken, people have taken a step back. Makes me wonder what it is that these idiots want.

We didn't want a carbon tax.

Australia, as a small country without much resources (in terms of scientists and funding) literally cannot do much better for itself. It's either this or nothing.

Second call to all citizens - be ready sooner rather than later.
All citizens should now have their bats at the ready.

Calling all citizens of Australia.

It would appear prudent that everyone should now start getting their baseball bats ready and to start sprucing them up for the upcoming federal election.

QLD citizens no doubt already have a head start and should continue having their bats in good condition and at the ready for the next event. Their leadership and skill in the last event is much appreciated by all.

There is an outside chance that an election may be called before 2013 and thus this early reminder for citizens to start their preparations.

Be prepared!
