The thing is, the case was still active, the ABC only presented one side of the issue and if they presented it in such a way that inferred Lehrmann was guilty of rape it is very poor form.
They are saying the presentation was in the publics interest, but if that were so, the public had a right to hear both sides.

Like I said, it really is the media right to push a narrative that is on trail IMO.
From a spectators view and reading what was said by a lot of ASF members Lehrmann was assumed guilty by the information the media was presenting to them, so it will be a very interesting case.
IMO the media has been pushing the boundaries for a long time with regard journalistic license and trail by media, it is getting back to the old days of lynch mobs and the very reason laws were brought in to stop it.
When Trump incites a riot and hate speech, it is unacceptable, when the media carries out vendetta against someone it's fine, as long as the mob are onside.
The left has a very strong belief in their own self righteousness, which eventually leads to mob rule IMO.
Just my thoughts.

If that were true, they wouldn't have flipped their defense so many times.
The ABC is lucky the taxpayers have deep pockets and have no say in who can steal money out of them. ?

We're living in the post-truth era.

It may seem harsh but pretty much everything needs to be questioned today and not taken for granted. Such is the extent of narrative manipulation.

Rarely is it outright lies. Normally it's just presenting one side of the story and giving little or no attention to the other, creating the impression that the media's preferred version is either the only option or at least the one most people support.

We're living in a clown world where most shouldn't be taken seriously. As a case in point, a current news item:

Most of it's either playing a game for the sake of it or it's about power, control and money with the "issue", whatever that happens to be, being nothing more than a convenient tool to be used.

Almost every columnist, celebrity, sports star, influencer etc cop heaps of online abuse very, very often.

I even recall one saying "if I don't get abused by someone then the column was a dud" and I crank it up the next time.

Given how often the ABC subject innocent people to a trial by media we could almost say "the kettle is calling the pot *****"
 
Not to mention politicians and journalists.

It's a fact of life that there are idiots out there. The only thing people can do is ignore them unless they make threats of violence, in which case take it to the police.

And politicians on both sides of politics use the same media for their ends even today, that's why open debate on forums like ASF, is so healthy for a balanced perspective IMO.
IMO news is like a jigsaw and each side of the media gives you the pieces they want you to believe, it's up to us to try and work out which pieces make the true picture.
That's why Prime ministers love selfies these days, free public exposure.

Public consultations commenced today and will close on August 6.

The Communications Legislation Amendment (Combating Misinformation and Disinformation) Bill 2023 is now in the public consultation stage.
 
The bottom feeders just can't let go, amazing that they still have to troll a family.
And the media wonder why the public dislike them, maybe they should realise not everyone dwells in the gutter with them.
He's gone mate, do the Aussie thing and let them live in peace now, it really isn't front page worthy IMO.

I watched the stage and Jai did an amazing job to stay in touch, coming in sixth against some of the best bike riders in the World, riding up one of the hardest climbs, a day after actually winning a climbing stage, is an absolutely brilliant result. IMO

Shame it didn't come up to the reporters expectations, maybe he could grab a bike and try to actually ride up the Col du Tourmalet then give Jai a couple of tips on how to do it.?

If Jai had blown up he wouldn't have come in 6th, Wout van Aert blew up as could be expected he worked his ar$e off, Jai just couldn't match Pogacar and Vingegaard, but then again not many can.

Jai is now in third place behind the two best general classification riders in the cycling world, that is impressive IMO. ?
