The Good ol' Days

Every generation has its quirks and largely influenced by pop culture in the west.
I'm lucky I have kids ranging from ages 6 to 21.
Keeps me aware of the generational shifts and gives an understanding of current youth culture and buying patterns.

I loved the beginning and end of the 90s.

You gotta admit that popular music of the era, and yep you can chuck in the 90s and the 70s, was in an absolute purple patch.

Before and after had been pretty shyte

There's plenty of bands around today making good music in whatever genre you prefer.

It's just that some genres which were popular a generation ago, most notably rock, are completely absent from mainstream charts and radio today much as jazz or opera were absent from the mainstream a generation ago (and still are).

That doesn't mean there aren't plenty of bands doing it and doing it well though. Some which come to mind:

Warning - some lyrics or video content may offend the easily offended. :xyxthumbs

Of that lot I've seen the Oils live once, AC/DC twice and Kim Wilde three times so I guess that answers the question for me.

Always thought Kim's other career as a landscape gardener was, well, an unusual contrast I suppose. Nothing against it - she was / is pretty good at it apparently. :2twocents

Does attending the Australian Chamber Orchestra's "The Four Seasons" at Llewellyn Hall last Saturday count? It is music from the good ol days.

It was a brilliant performance too.
I don't know as i wasn't able to attend !!!!!

Been compiling a list of best concerts/ live music that I've attended, and wondering where to drop it in.

Not a nerd, but I would have liked to be on that SBS show where the guests were asked; "First concert you've ever attended?"
A. Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee
(my mate Andrew thought they could be a trio).
