Any thoughts on the future of nickle ? - particularly in relation to stocks ENK and MRE.

Both European Nickle (leach process ) and Minara (cash positive) appear to have some good press during 2010 but I guess their future all depends on what happens to Nickle.

MRE looks good, not sure about ENK. What about MCR, IGO, WSA? Any others? thanks MS

Can't possibly keep putting news on nickel in the 'Nickel is back!' thread. This has been a disaster. Indonesia and China have destroyed it.

Looks like it could be years before prices lift back over $20K.

And who even knows if nickel is going to be needed in future batteries with new technology coming on by the day. It might only be required in steel making.

China has a strangle hold on the nickel mining industry, Australia can't compete with our current structure.

Glencore regards keeping a lid on labour and energy costs as crucial to the survival of its Murrin Murrin mine, one of only two nickel operations still operating in Australia. Glencore is unlikely to persevere with Murrin Murrin if forced to subsidise the operations.
BHP last month completed the suspension of its nickel operations in Western Australia that employed about 3000 people after huge e losses, in a move that inflamed tensions with the Albanese government.

To rephrase Sean previous post, China and Indonesia did not destroy nickel, they just make it competitive without the bull**** of co2 fighting, and overpaid workers.
Competitiveness does not care an aussie miner needs to pay employees 100k+ a year minimum wages so that they can survive taxes, electricity and rate bills , food and rent.
The net zero was the last drop.
I expect the same ahead for our iron and thermal coal industry
The future of nickel is: Indonesia
