How do you find the correct time, every site I go to just takes it off your PC clock which is one of the ones I'm trying to check !

Mr Burns, for a good time call 1194......

It would be good if the ASF chat site had the correct time. We could use this in cojunction with our trading tools.

Assuming you have a stable internet connection, set your Operating System to sync to a stable time source.

Assuming Windows XP:
Open the Date and Time Control Panel and go to the "Internet Time" tab.
Click the checkbox. Hit Update Now.

MacOS X and most versions of Linux will also have this built in.

I have always used US Navy Time ... no real reason. Website.

Hi nulla nulla,

Do you mean the forum time or the time in the chat room?

They all seem to mirror the PC clock, what you really need is a source outside that unless my PC clock is spot on which I doubt.

The clock in my hire car is very difficult to change, so it remains incorrect for half the year. All this swapping around is a great inconvenience and should be banned on a human rights basis, because of the stress and sleep inconvenience caused.

Joe,

Am replying on behalf of nulla, as a regular user of chat also.

The time in the Chat space is an hour ahead of eastern standard time....has been for a number of months....

We, that inhabit Chat space, would appreciate if it could be adjusted to reflect market open and close time...thanks

If it has sat nav you probably change it from there, I spent hours trying to change mine from setting on the steering wheel but found out later the clock is actually changed via the sat nav.

Fixed. I think.

Let me know if you are seeing the correct time as well.

Most PC clocks are pretty dodgy & will drift quite quickly unless you automagially synchronise them with one or more time sources.

http://www.pool.ntp.org/ is the best reference for how to do this properly.

As long as you connect to the Internet for about half an hour every couple of days you should stay close enough in sync.

Thanks Joe for fixing the time displayed in the ASF chat room, alongside each post by the ppl in the room. Also thankyou to Milo for responding to you in my abscence. I find the correct time benficial in keeping an eye on the market while sharing information with other chatters.
