The 'blue tie' brigade

Surely the Labor faction leaders head count in Parliament today would have been made much easier. Pro-Rudd...blue - Pro-Gillard...pink, red or purple. Fence-sitters ...grey.

Bill Shorten looks like he's absolutely clueless about to what to do.

Kevin Rudd looks like he's dreaming of twin daggers, one in each hand.

Bob Carr looks like he's made up his mind, but won't say.

Considering his wife is the leader of the Women for Gillard group, I would think his mind is already made up for him. If he puts Rudd in, he would not only have to contend with Rudd seeking revenge against the original conspirators in parliament, but a very angry wife when he gets home. :)

Poor Bill.

His tie was probably chosen for him too.

We keep hearing that Bill Shorten will be the next generation Labor leader. No one else is proposed.
Could anyone explain to me why he has been so selected? I cannot see any outstanding qualities in Mr Shorten. I've never heard him deliver an inspiring speech, or noted an insightful observation.

He is touted as a 'power broker' and someone who was a prime mover in the ousting of Rudd. Why?
Is this some sort of inevitable factional play that only Labor insiders would understand?

I'm just completely failing to get what makes him a standout from all his colleagues.

It's because the rest are even worse than him.

I agree, he is completely colourless and probably lost the respect of most people when he made the comment that he agreed with whatever Gillard had said (a few hours before) even though he didn't know what Gillard had said. A man without a mind of his own.

Hi Julia,

It is fairly simple what they see in Shorten ....

Position - leader of the ALP
Prerequisite - Secretary of the AWU
Preferred candidate - Bill Shorten
'Rising star' - Paul Howes

Suggest these clowns change the name of the ALP to the Australian Workers Union Party ... :xyxthumbs
