The advantages and disadvantages of living in countries besides Australia

If their not married I would think your friend owns nothing in Thailand
Condo or similar but not house and land
The place is a mine field for farengs in property
Rent is cheap
Thaivisa forum is a good source of all sorts of info but be warned can be crude

That's true but his partner can own the house and land, no problems if he/she is a Thai. The only thing is that if ever, later, they separate he will get nothing. Condo as you stated can be owned 100% in a farangs name.

Living in Kandersteg Switzerland to see my daughter. Glorious, fresh air, water running, scenic mountains. What a great place to live!

My missus lived there a while, training in dressage... first in Zurich, then a little place called Kirschberg.

Says she would live there again in a heartbeat.... and never leave again.

At our age, Schweizerdeutch might be a challenge though. ?

I am with your missus.

Climbed the Hof, an easy climb. Worn out.
Freya said that Sweizerdutch is quite different to German. She is volunteering at the International Scout camp. She however wouldn't stay, too small for her.

I leave tomorrow morning. Glad I came. Back in the grind Monday.

Missus and I are starting to get itchy feet again.

We absolutely love our property, it's a rather stunning little enclave in an ocean of division, dystopia and discord. We have our own like-minded tribe of course, but even we Bohemians have to deal with the outside, the road rage, psychos and ever encroaching nanny/police state.

We both feel our spiritual home is the old Blighty, but that is probably in a worse state than here. I have Canadian citizenship.... Just no, a thousand times no.

'Murica where I spent my youth? Yeah nah.

SE is too hot and humid.

Perhaps Milei can pull it off in Argentina (pun intended) and do good things there.... and I already know a little Spanish.

Plenty of horses in Argentina.

They play a lot of polo there I believe.

Yep I believe the best polo players in the world. Not really my interest though. I'm more into the Olympic sports and remedial work, though I dare say there would be plenty of that there also.

Just got to figure out how to say this is going to cost you a fortune, while flirting in Spanish

With regard living overseas, a mate of mine, is spending ever increasing time in Thailand.
He and his partner have a house and land there, and would like to relocate there, but he is finding the complete transition difficult.
I watch with interest.
That post was 2018, he moved there about a year ago, died a couple of months ago aged 71. RIP.

Might think again Wayne ?

About to relocate to Thailand to start up a Greenfields production facility.

Any experts here in ensuring maintaining Australian residency for taxation purposes?

As a little bit of a sidebar, because we were considering returning to the UK despite all the obvious problems there... Things have gotten a whole lot worse because of the Kier Stalin government.

It appears there is going to be an absolute exodus of millionaires from the UK especially non-doms, apparently even immigrants are thinking of going back to their old countries. It's going to be like the 70's.
