I'd suggest 5. We are Sports Mad Nutters We love to brag of our prowess on the world stage in terms of our population. Our sporting greats are idolized no matter how inappropriately they behave. We're all armchair experts who love to see an underdog make good. Possibly the one thing that will unite all True Blue Aussies is our desire to beat our Kiwi cousins at anything we can - esp cricket, footy, netball etc. By fair means or foul;) There is a long tradition of fierce competition between the two countries, quite like a sibling rivalry. Another common trait of Aussies is the generosity of spirit and the desire to lend a hand shown when a friend or neighbour is in dire straits - such as the earthquakes in Christchurch or the Boxing Day Tsunami.

My goodness, I seem to be coming over all patriotic - better stop typing before I mention our love of lamb...

Nope ya all smell o, because I've had better. Australian Matesmanship must not be taken out of prospective. we have responsibility to be yourself's and behave. The term mate is also reflected as Animal sex. So it must be sperated.

Disagree. We are not all one-eyed devotees of Australian sporting prowess. Many of us are simply disgusted at the behaviour of some of our so called sporting stars.
Many of us are unhappy about the massive funding that's poured into sport when it could be contributing to e.g. medical research.

Maybe larrikinism, but many larrikins now are different from even 20 years ago.. drugs, unemployment.

Disagree. Larrikins are really just hoodlums and hoolagins;). Many of us have no sense of humour at all - we have lost our ironic touch and are "up tight" rather than "laid back". I firmly believe that every school child should be made to chant bush poetry until these great traits are restored.

Btw GG, I'm not that sort of doc - no help for the sick from me. Just a nickname from childhood. Aussies love nicknames - maybe that's another trait? You can be Garpo and I'll be Docko...

I think the establishment have got it wrong when they have the idealeology that "pay as little as possible" is the way to go.

If they want their families to live in a safe happy society they must ensure their workers are safe and happy and that doesnt involve screwing them at every turn.

Perhaps if the masses were treated with more compassion we might find ourselves in a paradise rather than a dog eat dog environment.
