Got good advice, first he is young, just a child, second he looks remorseful, slap on the wrist almost guaranteed.

Some mentioned what they don’t like in the land of opportunity and this will be probably not far off the mark.

Here's another from The Australian,
Grandmother bashed and raped by boy on a BMX
A blue-eyed teen on a BMX bike is being hunted for a brazen broad-daylight rape of a 83-yr-old grandmother. A day after a failed attack on another grandmother, the boy struck up a conversation before punching the woman in the face and dragging her off a popular walking path to the banks of a creek and raped her.
He tried to gouge her eye out, stuck his fingers down her throat and told her he was going to kill her.
The daughter, who heard her mother screaming went to aid her but at first didn't recognise her. She suffered severe facial injuries, bruising and a broken jaw.
A man who went to the womans aid had a brief struggle with her attacker before the boy broke free and fled on his bicycle.
He is described about 16 yrs of age, 165cm tall riding a black BMX bike.

I mean what is this world coming to...I have heard similar stories over the last couple of years and they seem to be getting more brazen.
I wish I could even begin to comprehend what the hell's going through these kids heads......or maybe not.
Not so cheerful [after reading the papers lately]

I hope both these kids have to participate in victim/offender conferencing.
This is often the only means of getting them to have any understanding of the impact of their viciousness on their victims.

But then, as has been pointed out, the judge will feel sorry for them because their mother didn't cuddle them enough when they were three, and they will get a suspended sentence.

Their victims will never recover in a psychological sense.

Does anyone have any idea what it is in a young male that can possibly motivate him to attack an 83 year old? It's just sickening.

I don't know about that, there was a lot of community outrage at this guy. The cops were hunting him for a few days. He raped 9 woman in 10 days is what I heard (but maybe that was just media hype). When they finally caught him it was a huge relief. I mean, women were afraid to go out at night in those suburbs. If he get's off lightly, some people will be pretty pissed about it. But I suppose the law has to do what's written. I can't believe he's so young. He looked a lot older. Maybe his age is why the media is toning down the hype ('sexual assults' have turned just into 'assults').

I mean this guy was on a rampage, he's only sorry because he got caught and someone has scared the crap out of him at the remand center. If he gets away with this, he's got a big future in sexual assult and prison ahead of him that's for sure.
