Sweden goes PC mad! WTF?

Well, what do you expect? We now have wall to wall Labor governments in power federally and in every state.

This is what left wing government is all about: the licence to intrude, to interfere, to tax, to meddle, to regulate and generally direct the minutiae of everyday life. Hey, just like Sweden...

Hmmmm, dunno about that.

I'm big on building 'community' and I'd be happy about measures that encourage people to get together... but "forcing" them together?

Surely our fought for liberties give us the right to choose our company and not have to endure unnecessarily those we despise?

Well 'force' sounds a bit draconian I admit. But I have limited faith in people's ability to know what is best for them. I'm thinking in particular within the context of immigration and integration of immigrants; the sooner kids get used to mingling with immigrants the better. I think it's what puts Australia in such a strong position economically, we've integrated several generations of immigrants to the point where we can work with multiple cultures and races without blinking. I've noticed in working in Sweden and the Netherlands that they're not quite as accomplished as this. Sweden even less so than the Netherlands.

So whilst we read these articles and think it sounds extreme, the reality is that some societies need a bit of a push to be made to do things...we're talking about a country where the state owns the bottleshops and chemists. :)

what if the people don't want to mingle with immigrants? what if swedens different immigrant mix offers a different experience to what we have in australia? what if someone ever actually got around to discussing racial and cultural differences and be able to objectively look at the sociology and statistics behind it all without a cavalcade of fools playing the race card?

between leftist social engineering projects and the orwellian surveillance and data tracking methods developed to try and manage it, europeans must be wondering wtf they are supposed to be doing. besides grinding away to pay tax of course.

what if the people don't want to mingle with immigrants?

Too bad. You bring them into your country you've got to learn to work with them and your kids have to go to school with them. You either give a bit of yourself now and help them integrate, or you give much more over a much longer period when you and your kids and your kids kids taxes pay to keep them on the dole and later on the old-age pension.

That's a very sad and cynical view Kennas. Maybe you are right.
I'm not sure if it's sad and cynical, but 'THE TRUTH'. lol

Or, maybe I'm just a bit too into Coglan's Law. A Logical Negativist.

I do think that humans have the potential to change, and perhaps we are going through that now. Genuine acts of kindness and altruism may be just that.

Hang on, what am I saying. :banghead: That's a bit cynical kennas.

No, all we really want in the end is to keep ourselves alive and happy.

All the nice fluffy stuff on the surface is just that. Fluffy stuff. Keeps us nice and warm of course.

you see thats the kind of attitude that causes a lot of resentment. by not even having some sort of discussion about a policy that radically changes the social and cultural landscape, instead having some bureaucratic twat tell you he knows whats best for you, you are sowing the seeds for an aggressive response once society feels it is pushed too far. like what happened in cronulla or will undoubtedly happen in europe in the not too distant future.

You bring them into your country you've got to learn to work with them

well "we" didn't bring anyone in. it has been an undebated, heavily censored policy from the outset.

your kids have to go to school with them

no they don't. White flight in schools.

You either give a bit of yourself now and help them integrate, or you give much more over a much longer period when you and your kids and your kids kids taxes pay to keep them on the dole and later on the old-age pension.

thats rubbish. there is plenty of evidence that despite lots of "giving", there are certain cultures that are unwilling or unable to "integrate" into society. head down to malmo and see for yourself.

and whats with the attitude that we HAVE TO pay taxes for immigrant welfare in the first place? there was only minimal migrant welfare programs in place for most of australias history, why is it only recently the rest of us have to pay more tax to settle people we don't even need? why is the onus of intergration now on the host society instead of the immigrant?

lots of people don't want to be guinea pigs in the social experiment any more.

Remember, everyone has a responsibility. Immigrants, current residents and the policy makes. Usually its the residents and policy makers who have the most to give. Some people see it as having the most to lose.

If you're talking about shutting down immigration altogether maybe you should look into how Denmark managed to effect such a change.

We have unemployment
We have drought and water shortages
We have severe housing shortages

Do we have enough logic to put things together?
