If the stochs are big and really smooth and loopy (no jagged lines), the crossovers are usually very precise buying/selling points.

Change the periodicy to 28 istead of 14

Of course! But you know what I'm saying; if you're using the standard 15,3:15,3,3 and it's still smooth, the chances are the stock in question has fallen into some sort of stochastic groove and might repeat the pattern for a while longer.

I've noticed NCM can do this sometimes also.
