Re : Family trusts.
Last Friday's AFR reports there is a challenge underway to reverse the Family Court's ruling of 2008 . These things have been around for centuries under British law and have held up pretty well in divorce cases ,for all that time . This family trust is a biggie . Maybe 1/2 a Billion bucks at stake, so expect it to drag on through the legal system for years. She wants ...I don't know....her faire share , I suppose. Jeebus , aren't newspapers nosey. Ah , but who doesn't love gossip ? Anyway , the article claims many wealthy families have been changing over to a company structure in recent times in case of political moves ( on them ) to come. Follow the money, Jimbo ! You got Super done and dusted , what's next ?
Future moves by our good friends at the ATO , on Family Trusts that have been found to be stretching the law a bit , are reported in the weekend AFR for 24 th June , last month. Another good read , there.
