Being retired (mainly) and spending nearly all of my time travelling, I have no real need for any of the social networking stuff. The only concession is my wife's facebook which we visit probably 2 or 3 times per month to catch up with kids and family who are spread over a number of countries.
Skype and emails do us and we visit very few forums.
Recently I did some consulting for a large family business looking for a CEO. We were able to eliminate 2 of the final candidates after going through their blogs, facebook, twitter and forums in which they participated. Fortunately we are of an age where the social contact with friends and acquaintances is still by phone, skype or emails.
Cheers
