You can add radar to that. I know of a town in Ireland that is a palindrome (Navan). Can anybody think of a town in Australia that is a palindrome?
 
not a fact but a different spin on a statistic:

we are constantly told speeding takes lives.

But how many lives are taken by NOT speeding?

I mean if I stuck to the speed limit all my life, I would have lost about 6 months of my life extra behind the wheel. Multiply that by the entire population and the road toll looks pretty insignificant. So all those sunday drivers are suckin the life out of us!

oh by the way, Ive never had an accident or speeding ticket

any mythbusters fans here?

Two I must comment on.

Winston was born in a ladies cloakroom during a dance, but what is not common knowledge is that he was also conceived in a ladies cloakroom, but during a different dance and the orchestra were interrupted by the commotion during the latter.

Typewriter although a long word is not the only one I could find on a quick check of the qwerty line of my computer, with ten letters.

Proprietor, Repertoire and Perpetuity come to mind, there may be more.
