Interesting. Let's not forget he had a go at the leadership and failed dismally.Apologies if there is already a thread on this.
Betting has been suspended on Simon Crean for our next PM after he firmed from $101 or more last week to $11 today. Can a leadership spill be on the cards? Surely someone has some inside info for the odds to change this much, anyone know any more about this?

He seems to be a decent bloke, pretty straightforward for a politician. Just lacked gravitas or any sort of political presence. Certainly he'd be better than any of the present leadership team.
Would be stupidly funny if her mentor tapped her on the shoulder...
erm... hate to break it to you but Crean and Gillard are the 2 left-faction VIC ALP bigwigs - Crean was a mentor for her!. Yeah backstabbing can occur from anyone..... but Rudd was a right-faction (and a Qoinslander) member who had the support of NSW right and VIC right. Would be stupidly funny if her mentor tapped her on the shoulder...
Gillard scored NSW right and VIC right support in the Krudd knifing - fast forward to today NSW Right is hopelessly demoralised after their shelacking in the NSW election and the VIC factions - although in the same boat state election-wise - are far more influential (the loss here was no where near as great in NSW). Victoria is the country's daddy at the moment.
On the flipside - the Mad monk is a dry crusty tory and Malcolm Turnbull/Joe Hockey are in the small thinking faction of the Liberal party - that's where the friction is - Abbott would probably never be knifed by Bishop.
JB, if Congress and the President can't get it together soon on the US debt ceiling and QE, that could very well precipitate the internal coup de grace for the ALP Leadership. A new tax in the background of extreme market uncertainty? Not likely.Apologies if there is already a thread on this.

It's all gone very quiet.I cannot get any information this afternoon on his chances.

There's panic at the station,Hope you realise your accurate summation is far to complex for shrill of the excited torys making predictions of leadership change.
Senior ministers, including Trade Minister Craig Emerson and others, embarked on a charm offensive on Wednesday to shore up support for Ms Gillard among worried Labor MPs.
An Australia with Simon Crean as PM makes me ill, but Gillard does too, great position we are in isn't it.
The true believers by now will be yearning for the return of Gough Whitlam.Spit it out Burns, any Prime Minister who is Labor makes you ill.
He had his go at the leadership and failed dismally. If they were to bring him back at this stage, they would look even more desperate and dishevelled than they do now.He may the only bloke able to mount a tilt at JG.

Regardless of whether they're in bed or not, they won't sleep.I've just done a ring a round of 14 ALP MHR's and all had gone to bed and would not comment.
Roos in the spotlight.
Simon Crean is the only person to come out of today's shambolic navel gazing by the ALP with any credit.
