I told everyone in my department to have the day off. The majority of them work more than they should anyway and if they did come in, they wouldn't have been efficient.
I work in a large open office environment, so the effect of not having anyone around was magnified – thank god for white noise.
At least I got 10 hours of uninterrupted work in… might start working public holiday's (oh wait... I did).
