Hi all, Bit of a lurker here. I have been educating myself heavily over the past few weeks on TA patterns and signals, as well as reading up on recent fundamentals in the ASX. I fired up an indivisual CommSec account from my Netbank, and am edging closer to starting out trading (Mostly after-hours swing, with some day trading when I can/am more confident).

In my studies, I have been keeping in the back of my head that I need a good platform for domestic trading, that is cost effective, and integrated. I have looked at all sorts of charting software (MetaTrader, AB, CommSecIRESS, blah blah..) but never really came close to one that I spotted from the US E-Trade service, being E-Trade Pro. Just check out some of the youtube videos to see how integrated the setup is.

Now being all excited, I dove into a free trail of the E-Trade Australia E-Trade Pro, and was heavily disappointed that it was a far different product.

TL;DR: Is there a package that offers integrated trading/TA/news with streaming support for the ASX market outside of Bloomberg Pro?

In addition, I have been paper-trading with Plus500, but they have bugger all charting compared to others, but the live data stream for a demo account is unprecedented. I would like to do some more paper-trading to start getting my systems and signals down pat, and back-test my devised systems.

Hopefully my expectations haven't been too high here, and thanks to anyone who can weigh in.

So I went away and tried some more bits and pieces out. I decided to give Spark by Iguana2 a go, and I have to say that the L2 and news info is quite nice. Streaming is smooth, but the displays suffer from a little info overload. Very nice interface in all though.

Charts are non-interactive "I.e: no drawing tools" and only a moderate array of indicators so far, which is why I am going to give a shot at setting up the DDE listener in AmiBroker to use Spark as its data source.

Using these 2 tools, i the vast amount of analysis will be done, with AB on the daily and Spark for the RTD.

Orders will be placed through normal old Commsec and/or IRESS if my trading ever reaches the waiver limit.

For the moment I am going to use excel as the middleman for the exchange and use it as a runner of my paper trading practice. Only bummer is that Spark is only 14 days long for the trial. And for a newbie like myself, this is a costly tool.

Will post back once I'm happy with my setup
