What are you talking about?Stop_the_clock said:There are far too many people on this board with very large bank account balances, large property portfolios and trading egos to match.
I say NO to rating people...it just creates another box for people to rate and slang off at each other.
Please can we have a class-less society in cyber-world!
...Alls we need here is a carpark full of BMW drivers, driving 4WD's plastered with private college stickers- god I get enough of that living in the real world.
Sometimes it really sucks living in a wealthy suburb full of Rich B_itches!
Then again I could always move to the broncs
Sorry if I have offened anyone:

I can just see it now...so and so has $1 million in the bank, 10 properties in a portfolio and 5 gold stars...oh how the ego will just inflate...we all better stand up and take notice of this poster etc etc.
meanwhile, so and so has $5000 in the bank, no properties and 1 gold star, we better not listen to that poster as they have nothing to their name.
The funny thing is that many of the over inflated bank account balances, property portfolios and egos to match tend to perform poorly in the monthly stock comps. How ironic

That chip on your shoulder must be getting very heavy by now.
For heaven's sake, Bobby's original suggestion had nothing to with the any levels of personal wealth or otherwise.
I would suggest to you that you significantly underrate the collective intelligence of this forum if you really think most of us judge posters on their real or suggested level of affluence.
If you were to shift your focus from always being 100% on yourself, and approached the forum with a little more generosity of spirit, you could even find yourself benefiting from the considerable amount of good will and wisdom that is here.

Well said great Pig. And if you don't learn something new each day then you are doing your brain a miss service. Good bye for now until my next stop.GreatPig said:I don't understand all this crap about egos. I couldn't give a rats how good someone else thinks they are, or how much money they might have.
To me, success is about personal achievement, not about making lots of money or having everyone think I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread. And personal achievement is something you can't fake, unless you're very good at deceiving yourself.

There is a direct correlation between wealth and over inflated egos and it does run rampent on this board, so to add gold stars would only make the problem worse, much worse.

Get serious
I dont think that is the approach on this forum at all
To be honest i have less than $5000 in the bank, no properties, still at uni and not working full time, but i dont think any1 really cares??
Probably the only person to give me 1 gold star or half a star (because i havent reached 5Gs) would be you, as i dont think other people on this forum judge posters this way.
As long you do your research and post something relatively useful, its all good!
Stop_the_clock said:I was just using an example of what could occur, when matching up users posts with a star rating system.
That said...Many users have openly discussed their financials on this board, (true or not) the stocks/property they buy, the reasons why... then inflate their egos and get other members to inflate them further. Its not a healthy approach.

juddy said:IMO about half of what you read on forums is true. I think most people have a natural tendency to exaggerate personal standings, wealth etc. Easy to do when you're just a username.
barney said:Hi Juddy, Wish I could "under" exaggerate my personal standings..................I'm about minus $75,000 !!!!atm............might be "chicken feed" to some but boy could I use an interest free loan .......any takers??.........I promise I'll pay it back...................down but not out Barney.
juddy said:c'mon now Barney, you're only $37.5k down imo.
