Interesting to hear on the TV news last night that some beef cuts in Japanese supermarkets are cheaper there than what the thieving supermarkets, Coles and Woolworths, are selling it for here in Australia.
Even if they gave the meat away for free for a year, they would still be a mile in front on the profit garnished over the past 18 months or so.

I have heard many instances of this also. I remember when we lived in the UK, astonishingly Australian lamb was cheaper there than here. Something not right about that

producers screwed as usual.
Going to be a big traffic jam here in Perth tomorrow as about 1500 farmers and vehicles of various descriptions slowly block the highways and byways into Perth to let the Government and peasants know we are not happy about the banning of live export.
Unfortunately, I cannot take part due to a prior engagement.

Just been having a conversation with the stock agent we use.
At yesterday's trad sale at Muchea around 400 head of cattle were up for auction, this down from the usual 2500 odd head that was the norm.
Prices for the type of stock that we breed and sell are still at around $2kg

Mate down south (cow farmer) said some time ago once Woolworths and Coles lost control of the market due to a rise in exports he was getting reasonable pricing but Woolworths and Coles retail pricing still way over the top.

Exactly, we were getting around $1900-$2200 for the same animals a couple of years ago.
Now the total amount we are getting isn't even close to break even.
