Rationalisation or decimation

I was wondering today, now that the Holden, Ford, SPC situation is high in ASF members minds.

How many of us, will make a special effort, to buy a Holden, Ford or an SPC product.

My guess is, not many, sadly.
Because if all Australians made a point of choosing the product, they wouldn't need you to bail them out.

Funny really, many say we should bail them out, but not many buy the product.lol

With Ford and Holden (Folden) you are aware what you are or are not buying. With SPC product lines you often do not know what you are buying or your choice is between the local product or a much cheaper import. For eg. many of the house brands are imported so unless you look at the label you wont know that you are buying a product that is made overseas and imported. Or you have the choice of a tin of SPC tomatoes at $1.40 up against a tin of imported Italian tomatoes at 99c.

Did everyone see that dumping of tomatoes was proved yesterday (after a very long process)? Dumping is defined as providing product to Australia well below the cost provided to people in the country of origin, in this case Italy and massive tariffs have now been put on the tomato tins.

So SPC were right, they also claim the same thing for the fruit but the process is so slow, it lets the market be destroyed in the mean time.

That's great news Knobby.
