Questions you NEED to ask your Broker/Advisor etc

so being financially successful means being a millionaire?

so by that token, everyone that is not currently a millionaire (including the people who are well on their way to becoming a millionaire...one day) are all financially unsuccessful ??

That is a really immature view in my opinion :banghead:

Financial Advisers earn different incomes, have different expenditures and are in different stages of their career. To suggest their knowledge and ability to help people is completely reflective of their "current" core wealth figure is just stupid.

Well said Russh.
AGEO, I have to side with Russh and yes, some people do have a genuine reason to help others achieve their dreams.
Take for e.g on this forum, Young Trader(YT) has clearly helped a lot of members(including myself) here without any financial interest or any other financial motives.I know we are talking about FP/FA here.
Just a bit of common sense should be applied when choosing a FP/FA.
IMO if you don't have the ability to trust yourself, then why/how on earth can you trust others with your hard earned dough? :(

Cheers

To be fair, there are a LOT of other contributers here besides YT. They deserve a mention too.

hehe guys read my posts before having a rant.....

I didnt say people that are wealthy dont think of anyone else (i just said find out the reason why they want to help you and if they are doing it because they genuinely like helping others than thats a fantastic thing).

And 2nd of all, i was answering the question about the advisors etc.. based on "what i would say/want" Success to everyone is different, to me financially successful means what i want to acheive and that is complete financial freedom with no boundaries (millions of growth and passive income). Why would i ask advice from someone that hasnt achieved that? for some people thats ok but for me it isnt.

Guys if i want to be fit and lose weight do i ask a fat overweight blob that knows everything about losing weight etc... on paper?
No i goto somebody that has put in the hard yards and take it from the horses mouth.

Much easier to follow a mentor thats been there and done it, then someone who hopefully one day will get there.

To a large degree I'm with AGEO.

Not necessarily benchmarking millionair.
My benchmark is OBVIOUS expertise and prolonged experience in whatever field I'm going to employ.

For me one of my catch cries is that if your not an expert at something and need to be---then go employ one.

If you want to learn something then find mentors---the best you can find.

Just on the point of why work when financially secure/
Most of those who I know can retire have been very active in their investments and working life (Im one). Retirement (or to stop doing what they love) just simply doesnt compute to them or myself.

Financial independance has come from the success in doing what we love doing most in our professions and investments. Its been more a result than an objective as strange as that may seem.
Again strangely to some is that many of us enjoy helping others in their pursiut of financial Independance.---cause it really isnt about the money--dont need it.

Story.
18 mths ago a large box around 1m square rolled up by courier to my office.
It had 2 envelopes attached 1 and 2 on the front please open 1 first.

Inside the box was a host of goodies,Chocolates,Biscuits,Wine,Lotto tickets,Cheeses, amazing a feast!

Inside the envelope (1) was the following.

My SMSF capital was $750,000.

Wow $465K profit---no wonder he was happy!

This sort of suprise makes all the free time here well worth it.(for me anyway).
I find the more I give the more I receive. No I'm not religious.

Perfect example of someone that enjoys helping others. Good to know the reason behind it why you enjoy it. I look forward to being in your shoes 1 day in the not too distance future.

Ageo,
1 day maybe in the not too distant future you could be my mentor!:D
Looking forward to that day.

Sir WayneL,
Yes, have to agree with you. Countless genuine members here willing to answer questions and share knowledge and experience with a passion and that is one of the reason I signed up to this great forum.

Tech/a would you like to be my mentor?:D

Cheers,
Solaris :)
