My contacts in George St. tell me that moves are afoot for Queensland to seek secession from Australia from Her Majesty the Queen.

The final straw prompting this move and contributing to the angst of Queenslanders is the decision by the muppet Burke, a minister in the Federal Labor government to ban the Galilee Basin Project, a coal project destined to deliver wealth to our young families and future generations.

Burke is driven by indebtedness to green voters in Sydney and Melbourne, and to the Green Party by agreements made between Bob Brown and Julia Gillard in the ALP/Green Coalition government.

This flies in the face of the massive mandate given to the Queensland LNP Conservative Government recently by the Queensland people.

The welfare of Queensland families, of our wealth and assets and of our treasures including the Great Barrier reef can be best protected by a Queensland Government not indebted to Unions or International bodies such as UNESCO or the UN.

Tony Burke has declared war on Queensland for the so cynical purpose of pandering to the Greens for their preferences. This is the reason he keeps harping about "dugongs, turtles and whales." Newman has asked the PM to rein in her rogue minister. Fat chance.

If the Labor Bligh government couldn't get the Traveston dam approved, then Newman has Buckleys chance of getting the Galilee project up and running. It probably will have to go on hold until Gillard and Burke are kicked out.

I don't have the level of trust in the Queensland government that I wish I had," Mr Burke said in Canberra this morning.

"I cannot trust them with Queensland jobs; I cannot trust them with the Great Barrier Reef
."

Same contacts that said the NBN was being scrapped a year ago?

Maybe we should have a GG "rumours thread"...

If QLD and WA both went, sea and air travel between the two states would be the only options.

There was a late '80s early 90's movie about this with a Joh character building up an army to secede.
You should get it GG!

Perhaps GG could go into the movie business.

Joh might be gone, but there's no shortage of fresh material up there in sunny Qld.

He could direct contemporary versions such as "Barnaby's Army" or "The Katter Dynasty".

It's perhaps a little late though for "Mrs Fish And Chips".

Qld may not be able to afford secede ?

QUEENSLAND'S battered credit rating looks set to take another hit with ratings agency Fitch preparing to downgrade the state's outlook yet again.

The Courier-Mail can reveal Fitch Ratings last week met with Queensland Treasury and gave "strong indications" it planned to revise its AA+ rating down to AA within weeks.

It is understood Fitch, which first foreshadowed a possible downgrade a year ago, has again cast doubt about forecast economic growth amid the eurozone crisis and slowing Chinese markets, while also raising concerns at the state's high debt level, already at $62 billion and set to reach $85 billion by 2014-15.

We need to pay off the debt that the muppet ALP Queensland government incurred before we can think of secession.

At least in 12 months time there will be less public servants on stress leave. They will be working.

I know absolutely nothing of this project, its virtues or the decision to ban it, therefore I feel comfortable in formulating an unbiased opinion about it.

It seems from gg's post that Queensland is nothing without this project, Thus, Queensland is nothing, being suddenly unable to build upon its previous strengths.

Perhaps its whole future lies with the Get Stuffed sandwich bar in that sleazy arcade in Surfers Paradise.

It's nothing much really Eager.

It will enable thousands of workers and tradies to earn $120-$200,000 per year, buy or build a house, marry and have children, educate them and have some good leisure time.

And pay taxes.

In a Labor state they would probably be kept on welfare and tossed a couple of hundred bucks a week.

Popular Brisbane band Ball Park Music with their new hit.
"Please don't move to Melbourne!"

Begging a girlfriend not to move to Melbourne.
Video shows lots of good spots in Brisbane and plenty of bin chickens!

At work, the new partner is from Queensland and our latest addition moved from Queensland !

Goes both ways though.

I asked the new guy why he decided to move to Melbourne.
He grew up in Surfers Paradise and was working in our Brisbane office.

He was finding Brisbane pretty boring. (He is about 24)
Some of his mates had moved to Melbourne and told him about the bands, sports etc. so he decided to come down for a year.
I wonder if he will stay.

the best takeout is
- can fly direct BNE - MEL
- or take the Newell Highway

NSW remains comparatively uncontaminated
