Qld. & Northern NSW Weather

Re: Qld. & Nth NSW Weather

lol Timmy - it's soooo windy outside at the moment, your ebay umbrellas would blow inside out!

We're on the Gold Coast - but had to drive back from northern NSW on Wednesday. The rain was torrential and the drivers side wiper blade kept coming loose. It was a drive we won't forget for a while, but thankfully, we got back safely. On arriving back home, there were power blackouts and no cable internet for a couple of days.

Really hoping it will settle down soon...

Re: Qld. & Nth NSW Weather

From the pictures of the Lismore etc area last night, I so feel for these poor folk. What a horrible situation.
Have any ASF members had their homes flooded?

Sounds awful, motorway. Hope the sunshine returns today.
All the best.

Re: Qld. & Nth NSW Weather

Most locals in Lismore are used to floods, the majority didn't even evacuate.

It floods every 5 years or so here, most knew this one wasn't too much to worry about.

It's worse for people on the Gold Coast, who aren't used to this sort of thing.

Not in QLD or Northern NSW .
but its pretty wild.
keeping some of these in the freezer to go with a fine single malt.

Govt’s $20 Million Storm Relief Package Almost Enough to Cover Tradie Call-Out Fee

The new $20 million storm recovery fund for affected areas of south east Queensland should pretty much cover the call-out fee for a tradie to come out and have a look at one house, analysis has shown.
Announcing the fund today, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he was pleased the Government could help one Queensland resident get a plumber to have a quick look at their damaged roof, before putting together a more comprehensive quote to actually fix it.

“Obviously the $20 million doesn’t include any repair work, which will be costed separately. And it doesn’t include after-hours call-outs, which would also be extra. But we’re thrilled that we can provide some assistance in covering the up-front costs of getting someone to have a look,” the PM said.
Local sources have confirmed that a plumber has been contacted, and will be over to have a look at some point between 8am and 3pm next August.
