I thought i would start this thread for those that use Premium Data through AmiBroker.

I'll start things off by outlining my problems downloading data into AB. This can be done, one contract at a time if i use the Import MS data function. This, after i followed the steps on PD's site. Anyone else come across this problem?

My other most recent problem is that i cannot see the most recent EOD data, its just not there!

Now, please realise i am a noob to AB and i am finding it slow going, especially with the data.

Helpppp!:(

Hi, I've installed Amibroker and Premium Data 3 times - First time on my laptop, then formatted and reinstalled. And over the weekend once more on my dad's pc. (The neat thing with Amibroker and Premium data is they both allow in their licensing to be installed/used on 2 pc's).

In all cases I haven't had any problems - To try and isolate the problem you're having, can you try the Premium Charts app? Ie, is that able to show the most recent eod data? If that works ok, what about the Toolbar item Premium Data installs into Amibroker (Under Tools->ASX-PremiumData)......Does that run all 7 steps without any error messages?

Hmmm, I don't have the futures subscription so we probably have different scripts that run when the toolbar option is pressed. If anyone else reading has futures? Other than that you may have to log a support call with Premium Data.

Yes i think so, the only problem i have is that AB is loaded at home and i am not permitted to load it at work where i have email...PD don't do phone support either.

Thanks Mr.Woodo

Cheers,

Cannie..I think Richard Dale who runs PD is a regular at Nicks, may pay to try there?

Hi
Have you run the Integration script within ami? I can see that no data is appearing on your chart. This may be due to the script not having been run (or possibly corrupted somehow).

The detailed instructions are here;

http://www.premiumdata.net/support/amibroker.php

You need to be connected to the net to do this.

I would suggest try rerunning the integration script first (Step 4 in the instructions). If this doesn't work then download a new script amd reinstall the integration scripts for your subscription following all steps outlined in the link above. I have Premium data for ASX/US/Futures and Spot FX and have no trouble with the scripts functionality.

Cheers

Email to Richard at PD
You do not need to import MS database. The setup is that AB will use a plugin to read the MS database that PD updates. This is all arranged when you run the initial exe file that PD supplies from its downloads webpage
After that you only need to run the script file which is located in the AB Tools menu to update the symbol allocations

Yes, but i've done that and all's not well, so i've done something wrong.

I'm going to strip it and AmiBroker from my home PC tomorrow night and reload everything. On my work laptop i'm going to try to load AmiBroker onto a flash disk and then do the same with PD. At least if i have some trouble i can email RD from work.

Very frustrating, but thank you to all those that have helped! Very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Good news!!!

I've reloaded everything and except for a few doubtful minutes, everything works fine now.

The strange thing is, once i reloaded everything, it still gave me the same error, and then i just tried it once more to get the error in order to take a screen shot, presto it worked:confused:

Thanks to all those that helped me out!

No doubt i'll be back to this thread one day, or one similar, LOL!

Cheers,

Is Premium Data and AmiBroker software capable of data mining to find exceptions for all ASX transactions?

I have become interested in tracking potential takeover targets and currently monitoring large parcels including SPXT, OSXT, SXXT for each selected company
-- I currently have to input share code for each company, copy and paste.
-- data currently includes: Date. Time, Price ($), Quantity. Value ($) and Conditions codes
-- what other data is available to be accessed (is the broker identified)?

What service or software is required for AmiBroker to access the ASX share transactions?
-- what is the cost of this software/service?

Ok, found out that one too, i guess it would help if i ran the PD first! :banghead:

Cheers,

i downloaded the trial version of amibroker last week. i also downloaded a trial of premium data last week (13/06/08). That night i could see the end of day data for asx - great. when i open it now the charts will only show me data up until 13/06. how do i get the data updated for the two days of this week? Does amibroker do this automatically? or can i not do this because it is a trial version of the software and / or the data.

Jersey - if you submit a query to Premium Data (use the form at this link) you should get a very quick answer. I have never dealt with a business more responsive to its customers than Premium Data, really a top-notch service.

thanks Timmy,

i sent the email at 1:17pm and got a response at 1:39pm. 22 minutes not bad and they were also able to solve my problem for me. Do you use Amibroker and Premium Data? how do you find it? I am thinking of changing to these in the near future. Am currently using Market Analyst.

Jersey10.

jersey I moved over to AM and Premium because I think both are excellent value .

Highly recommend both.

If I use Premium Data for prices, how do I get fundamental data for the stocks?

It doesn't seem that premium data includes fundamentals in the data.

Has anyone had problems running the integration scripts for the ASX PremiumData ?

I have tried their FAQ, but there is nothing in regards to this. I have also sent of an email, but was hoping to play with it this weekend.

The error i get is the following :

Error opening file for writing :

C:\Program Files\Amibroker\ASX-PremiumData\broker.workspace

The folder (ASX-PremiumData) doesnt exist, let alone the file (broker.workspace).

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
kolonel
