Im aware that theres a sticky on this but I need more information of possible please.

I dont ever buy on pre-open anymore and when i did i bought "at market" to make sure i got in. Needless to say I forked out way too much for the stock.

Heres my situation.

I want to place an order to buy a stock tonight for tomorrow at say....$6.00....So if i put my order in now at a limit price, does that mean that it will only execute if its sold at that price? Or because im buying in pre-open, it will execute at whatever the opening price ends up being?

OR

If the opening price is higher than my limit order, does it just get left behind and IF SO.....does my order still stay in the market depth when the market opens to be filled during the day if price reaches it?

Thankyou for your patients on this pre-open stuff....!!! I want to make sure i get it right.

Re: Pre-open

the way i understand it, if you place a limit order it will execute in the preopen i.e. between 10 and 10:10am if the volume weighted average price is lower than your limit order (assuming you are going long). if the VWAP is greater than your limit price it will not execute but your order will stay in the depth and your order will execute if price comes back during the day.
