There is nothing like a good back-door lisitn gto make a quick buck on the market. My last success was IIG which went nuts when it changed from a marketing company to a gold miner. And it might turn a profit to one day with its gold mining proposal near Charters Towers.

Today the poor old CEC Board have pulled the plug on its mortgage lending business (due to having the RAMS model I would say) and has announced that they are seeking 'alternatives for the company'. The King is dead - long live the King. So what will the new 'alternative' be -
A. gold explorer;
B. coal in Indonesia (a favourite);
C. Uranium in Eastern Europe; or
D. ??

If I knew how to install the voting buttons, this would be even more fun!!

Anyway the suspense is killing me. Keep an eye on it guys and gals as these type of 'change of direction' plays can be rewarding.

Hmmm wasnt so rewarding for Pocketmail (PKT) a communications & technology company, who all of a sudden decided uranium in South Australia was the go, and became Adavale Resources, in the final act of bastardry consolidated their shares.... leaving the original holders in PKT bout 75% down on their original investment...... and are really going nowhere ATM
Thats the thing about the back door, unless its done right it usually ends in pain haha

Another "shell" would be REO. You may recall that Opes was going to use REO to list... What a great investment REO would have been if it had acquaired Opes... :eek:

Prior to being named REO, it was known as KIA (Knights insolvency Administration Ltd).

another contender for some change is australian biodiesel - the below quotes are from its report on its agm on 28 May. i don't know whether it has the expertise to change, but looks like the plan is to move away from its core business of biodiesel .

"• The biodiesel business in Australia represents an unacceptable risk to
shareholder which your Board cannot ignore.
• While not ignoring the value of current assets, the Board will attempt to
diversify the company into other areas of renewable energy, to bring long
term value back to shareholders."

and..

"What are we going to do?
Concentrate on fundamentals
• Continue to stabilize company - operating profitability expected in Q3 2008
Take strategic initiatives
• Build the Scanline business to a comfortable position
• Use Berkley Vale for alternative fuel production
• Fully utilise major asset at Narangba
– much of the plant is generic and can be used for other applications
– linkage of the plant to emerging biofuels opportunities - discussions are
already in progress. Shareholders to be informed of progress.
Opportunistic possibilities
• IP sales
• Biodiesel / diesel blending and sales when viable
• Glycerine production"

Hawk Resources (HFC), a former explorer for Tugsten and Coal, has just acquired New Standard Energy which has a good acreage of exploration licences in the Canning Basis.

Company is being recapitalised with 32m shares being placed at 20 cps.

So its gone from tungsten/coal to oil exploration off WA. :eek:

ABJ's business was based mainly on producing biodiesel from second grade animal fat. A change of direction need not take it away from biodiesel. Production by other means from other base products could be said to be a change of direction.

They have also said they will also make the sale of their technology another avenue for revenue.

I wouldn't call their changes "back door listing".
