I have found through experience that the name of an entity makes me very suspicious about auguring it's financial success.

Thus any entity with the following as the name or part of the name, makes me extremely suspicious.

Equity
Trust
Estate
Mortgage
Storm
Wind
Earth
Financial
Better

Can anyone add to the list?

Global , especially from an aussie company

Homer Simpson's internet start up company was called Compu-Global-Hyper-Mega-Net.

I quite liked it. Had a certain je ne sais quoi.

Safe,
Secure
and Guaranteed.

These words should never be used in a prospectus, guaranteed against loss of capital? As you know if a company goes belly up a guarantee means jack ****...

PS: I am nervously watching my defined benefit super....:confused::eek:

"International" unless it's an appropriate name in view of the company's actual business activities.

Any name bearing reference to a current fashion trend. Recent examples would be "i" (as in iPhone etc) and before that ".com".

Any celebrity name (possible exception of the likes of Warren Buffett if he really is personally running the company).

Any reference to a specific location, unless the company's actual or proposed operations are substantially based in that location. For example, I wouldn't be investing in something like "Queensland Resources" if they had no actual resource operations and the head office was in Adelaide - a scenario like that just doesn't sound right... But it wouldn't be a problem if it really was a junior mining company with exploration permits etc in Qld - in that case it's probably just a legitimate junior exploration company with the usual risks such companies carry.

Any name that is very similar to that of any other established company, especially if the established company is operating in a similar industry. Anything like that is basically trying to deceive people right from the start in my opinion.
