Can anyone recommend the most cost effective way to facilitate an OS transfer?

For business, I need to regularly pay Google. For reasons best known to Google, the only payment option is an OS transfer in US dollars to an Irish bank account. That is, there is no credit card payment option.

Business has a CBA business account, but I refuse on principal to be ripped off by CBA on OS transfers. They're currently offering super parity rates PLUS fees!

If you are doing >50k pa PM me and i can help you out. I work for a non bank

Thanks for the offer prawn, it is currently significantly < 50K.

I guess it's more the principle of the matter. I don't mind if a bank charges a fee, but ripping me off in the FX rate and then also charging me a fee!...... Come on!

I just wish this product from Google accepted aussie credit cards. Bloody Google!

Australian FX retail have terrible spread and is basically daylight robbery as you'vs already found out.

What I've done in the past was to actually transfer AUD to the overseas account and let the overseas bank do the conversion into local currency. I don't know if that would work with your situation but something to explore perhaps?

I use moneybookers for small amounts, although I only transfer between accounts in my own name in various countries. It costs nothing to load into my MB account and EUR1.8 +2.49% to withdraw.

I really only use my foreign accounts when I travel as the ATM fees are cheaper/free in certain countries.

For OS travel I haven't been able to go past the 2 Degrees Mastercard. Just load up the card with cash and I can withdraw from any ATM. There's no annual fee, no other transaction fees, and the FX rate is always within a cent or two!

Damn Google! Get your house in order so I can pay with a CC like with all your other products!
