The Omnivore's Dilemma is a book, by a journalist called Michael Pollan. I'm about half-way through it, and it's the most upsetting thing I've read since... well since... well since I can't remember when.

Anyone here read it? Got an opinion?

Never heard of it, Ghoti. What's so upsetting about it?

I've just finished "Sick to Death" by Hedley Thomas, the full story of the cover-up by Qld Health bureaucracy of Jayant Patel's pathological behaviour. I can't help feeling more angry towards the two Bundaberg Hospital Administrators, Keating and Leck, than even Patel himself. They knew what was going on and ignored all the pleas to have it stopped. I'm not sure that too much has changed now within Qld Health. So that's another upsetting book which, however, I'd recommend to anyone.

In a sense ..we have always known what Michael Pollin is writing about...My nannas eggs, from her free range chooks are the DEFINITIVE egg for me

No need to wonder how corn and oil got into our food chain..they have fueled the modern economy since the industrial revolution.

Hey Julia! Love your pic! Nice Shepherd...
