NRL premiers for 2009

Super win by the Storm! Was worried a little with 15mins to go, the Eels were up & firing but were hold off by a courageous Melb outfit.

Slater, Inglis and Smith are superstars.

storm too strong when it mattered,i thought moi moi played the best game ever in a beaten grand final & was unlucky not to win the clive churchill medal.

parra will be back stronger in 2010.

Even though Storm would probably have won, and were most deserving, it was dissapointing to see the ref make such a crucial mistake at the end.

It would have been awesome to see parra have a few more stabs at the line, and extra time would have been great for the game.

In all an excellent grand final, which did credit for a game under pressure.

Thanks to parra for such an inspirational final series, and to melbourne for a fantastic, consistent effort.

I agree it was a good game with some big hits. Always good to have a one converted try difference point score towards the end of a GF. Pre game entertainment and Channel Nein were the only things which I thought let it down.

Also interesting to see that the NRL GF tv ratings were higher then the AFL GF ratings this year by about 200,000.

Australia take on current World Cup champions N.Z. first up then the Pommy match up should pack Wigan stadium as the home crowd will love to see their boys rolled by the (arguably) best rugby league team in the world right now. Go Aussie go.

Saved face.

Game 1 : Australia 20 New Zealand 20

With England at Wigan next weekend there must be a nervous twitch amongst the Kangaroos now. The Poms look slick and there`s a bit of skill with their halfback from what I saw of the French game.

Game 2 : Australia 26 England 16

Aussies switched off in the second half and let the poms put a few on the board. A few glimpses of individual brilliance combined ensured the poms were down 26 points at half time.
Watmough has improved out of sight over the last couple of years and up there as the best player for mine. Neat lil offload to Inglis resulted in one try and defense was outstanding.
Poms all in all were disappointing and as Phil Gould said they are "going backwards" as a League playing country. All good.

Frogs legs for dinner next weekend and after the floggings they have had will be medium to well-done with a garnish of parsley.

* 1/3 cup lemon juice
