Yes it isn't like the dissability pension, it is everyone with just about any kind of ailment, that requires assistance, be it mental or physical, it is always an ongoing project as new ailments become identified.

It is a great thing, but is an open ended cost, for example where we live many are getting gophers, the ongoing maintenance and depreciation of them will be an ongoing cost.

Deaf clients get things like doorbells with remote cameras, they are terrific but will require repair and replacement.

By its intention of assisting people with dissabilities to access available lifestyle improvement devices and services, it will be difficult to stop the cost growing, mental health issues and lifestyle induced illhealth problems are increasing.

Drawing a line on who is worthy and who is not, is a difficult and when things break down, ensuring the service provider isn't rorting is another thing that is hard to administrate.
The other problem is putting a brake on the whole thing, we have been involved in disability care for over 50 years, right back to the institutional days so we do know a bit about it.

We know many carers who go on holidays with their clients 2 or 3 times a year, all expenses paid, is this good or bad ?

It is good for both client and carer but is it fair to the rest of Ozzie workers who are paying for it?

There are a lot of working folk who can't pay their light bill or clothe their children, should they be paying for holidays for 2 people?

The other huge drain that will be ongoing is the drugging of the younger generation, in particular boys, Boys are Boisterous !

We have kids that are home alone after school without supervision so they get up to mischief (just like we used to) but now that is smacked down with drugs.

Boys in particular Need to race around every day to let off steam, just like we used to, yet many of them don't get that opportunity and the resulting spare energy is smacked down with drugs.

Reading books by Doctors involved with kids and they are quite concerned with the lack of exercise that this generation is getting.

Long term poor health will be the result when bodies don't develop strength and posture in adolescence

2024 Federal budget

• Government’s NDIS reform program projected to cut $14.4bn from scheme costs over four years, offsetting projected extra costs beyond last year’s budget.

• Total NDIS costs for next four years expected to rise by 9.2 per cent annually.

• Total NDIS costs for next four years budgeted at $218bn

..... what a godsend this has been for certain sectors of the economy. Vehicle leases, shop front offices on high streets, sign writers, ramp and rail installers, software packages ...

At least with Labor in the can cut services, with the other side in, any cuts would be front page news and there would be marches on the house of Parliament.
There is always a time when Labor can get things sorted that the coalition can't and vice versa.

I wasn't aware that there was a NDIS Thread.
After reading most of the posts starting from 2022 it appears to me that very little has changed from then up to now.
Checks and balances seem to be mentioned but aren't appearing.
Talking the Talk is easy, but Walking the Walk, well that is a different kettle of fish.

Middle Eastern gangs and other criminal groups are stealing more money from the National Disability Insurance Scheme than previously suspected, costing the taxpayer at least $8.8 billion this year alone.
Commission Michael Phelan warned in 2022 while boss of the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission that as much as one-fifth of NDIS funding was being abused by crime syndicates.
Mr Phelan is now Acting Commissioner of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards, and said on Friday that the situation is even worse than he feared, ABC News reported.
“I certainly made those comments in 2022, in my position as head of the crime commission, and to be perfectly honest I haven’t stepped back from that position,” Mr Phelan said.
“When I made that assessment, we didn’t have perfect information before us, we only had what we got from the intelligence inside the commission … now I’ve been involved with working in the NDIS, it is arguable I was a little conservative — particularly with some of the things that have been happening.”
A Nine newpapers investigation in the same year found that members of Middle Eastern crime syndicates were heavily involved in robbing the NDIS.
Mr Phelan told the publication that the organised crime groups were creating fake clients, inflating invoices, intimidating and taking advantage of real NDIS clients, skimming money, charging for services never provided, and even had pharmacy employees on the payroll to identify new NDIS users they could exploit.
The NDIS cost the Australian taxpayer $44 billion this financial year, and according to Labor’s Budget handed down earlier this month is expected to hit $61 billion by 2028.
However, costs have blown out and exceeded forecasts every year since the scheme’s inception in 2013, helping make Australia one of the world’s biggest spenders on disability in the world.
More than 3% of GDP now goes towards the NDIS, the disability support pension and the carer payment – more than double the UK’s share, and on par with Sweden, Finland and Iceland.
18% of Australians (4.4 million people) are disabled, according to the most recent government data, and for 23% of those their main form of disability is mental or behavioural.
Another 22% of the population have a long-term health condition.

Australia is officially a retard country

Before you get upset about the headline, consider the following facts about Australia, and ask yourself if there is any other conclusion to be drawn:
  • 18% of Australians (4.4 million people) are disabled, according to the most recent government data
  • For 23% of those, their main form of disability is mental or behavioural
  • Another 22% of the population have a long-term health condition, meaning that fewer than 60% of Australians are healthy and normal
  • 42.9% of Australians aged 16–85 years report experiencing a mental disorder at some time in their life, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics
  • Between 2020 and 2022 17.6% of Australians aged 16-85 (3.5 million people) were prescribed “mental health-related medication” – 21.6% of females, 13.5% of males
  • The National Disability Insurance Scheme cost $42 billion this year, and is forecast to blowout to $105 billion a year by 2034 – 3% of GDP
  • The NDIS currently covers 646,000 people, but this is expected to double to 1.2 million within a decade
  • 1 in 3 jobs created over the past year was in an industry servicing the NDIS, and those roles are now 6% of all jobs in the country
  • 12% of boys aged 5 to 7 are on the NDIS, up from 9% in April 2022, mainly for autism
  • In 2022 the Australia Criminal Intelligence Commission chief estimated up to 20% of NDIS funding – $6 billion at the time – was lost to fraud
  • He warned Middle Eastern organised crime gangs had infiltrated the scheme
  • Common scams include creating fake NDIS clients, inflating invoices, and taking payments for services never provided
  • A paedophile in Victoria was granted a $1.4million NDIS support package because of his “intellectual disability” diagnosis
  • An incest rapist in New South Wales was given $100,000 in funding in 2022-23 because of multiple “personality disorder” diagnoses
  • A paedophile with psychopathic traits in Queensland was approved for $500,000 in funding due to his “mild intellectual disability”
What kind of country not only allows the most heinous of child sex offenders to live, but also gives them taxpayer money because they are “disabled”?
A retard country.
The Victorian paedophile, 40, qualifies because he has “mild-to-medium intellectual disability, personality disorder, complex post‑traumatic stress disorder, paedophilic disorder and compulsive sexual behaviour disorder” and requires 24-hour a day supervision.
He was found guilty of rape, sexual assault, indecent act with a child under 16 (x2), make and possess child abuse material, and stalking.
A serious country would execute him without a second thought.
The NSW incest rapist, 63, was diagnosed with “below average range intelligence; severe psychopathic personality disorder; mixed personality disorder with sociopathic traits; major depressive disorder” and although he claims to have a brain injury that has never been substantiated.
He was found guilty of incest involving sexual assault (x2), breaching parole, failure to comply with obligations of being a registered sex offender, and admitted allegations of sexual violence during marriage.
Execute him.
What proportion of Australians would oppose this?
A judge found that the Queensland paedophile, 44, “probably lied to occupational therapists and others who have assessed him for a NDIS support package” but he was given one anyway due to his diagnosis of “mild intellectual disability; very low intelligence; antisocial personality disorder; psychopathic traits”.
He was found guilty of indecent treatment of a child (x3); sexual assault; choking, suffocation and strangulation.
Execute.
Of course, none of them can be named and shamed, unlike right-wing political dissidents who get cancelled and fired for expressing their opinions, and none of the diagnoses or disorders are real – it’s all fake pseudo-science from top to bottom.
Read the above facts again.
Every fifth woman you see walking around is doped-up on antidepressants.
A whole generation of little boys are being “treated” for autism, a so-called disorder that does not physically exist, because their parents get money for it.
Paedophiles walk among us living off the money we pay in taxes.
Immigrants feast on a smorgasboard of free money and welfare. They have no qualms about ripping off Australians or the Australian government.
How long can this go on for? What level of national disability can the ever-shrinking healthy and normal proportion of the population support?
Mass immigration is often referred to as a Ponzi scheme, but when combined with the jobs market, the NDIS, the welfare state and the housing market it’s more like a pyramid scheme, as it requires more and more participants to pay the exisiting members or the whole thing collapses.
Our society is so toxic, degenerative and unhealthy that it requires almost 50% of the population to be on psychiatric drugs, leaves 1 in 4 with long-term health issues, and another 1 in 6 disabled.

If this a factual artical then surely those that are supposed to be in charge should be aware of this.
If in 2022 there was this crime rip-off acknowledged then why hasn't any action been taken since then.
Beggers belief.
Perhaps the wheels of Parliament and also those on trainer wheels at NDIS need a good shake up.

Have a look at the current government and the average public servant you see People in the government sector. They are usually more concerned with virtue signalling about some political topic and where to hand out the next rainbow lanyard. Than doing the remote basics of there job

Up until recently I have had no issue with paying stup amounts of taxes and getting little back to help the less fortunate. But it’s a joke nowaday. The system needs a clean out as image how much of a clown show the coming decades will be

We were watching ACA on Ch 9 tonight (Wed) and once again my blood started to boil, and the TV screen was in danger of having a boot thrown at it.
The reason was the continuing saga of the NDIS scam that has been taking place with one particular woman
This was a follow up from a few days ago.
She through her various companies has left many people in a desperate position by taking the funds supplied to them through the NDIS scheme and then saying thank you very much it's all mine.
Several properties were shown as being owned, and part owned by her and or one the scamming businesses.
She should as a minimum be had up as stealing as a servant, have all assets, that is house, properties and cars, taken and sold to repay those she has stolen from.
The list goes on and on.
And she and her lot are only just the tip of the iceberg.
I'll leave my rant about here, mad as hell I am over this.

in a few years time, NDIS will be draining more than the Age Pension.

...as reported in the media today; this from AFR:

The National Disability Insurance Scheme is on track to overtake the age pension as the most expensive area of government spending within three years if it remains stuck on its current growth trajectory.

Even if Labor successfully reins in the rapidly growing $42 billion social program, it will still overtake the pension in terms of cost within a decade, according to projections by the independent budget watchdog, published on Thursday.

Labor’s attempts to cut the annual growth rate of the NDIS to 8 per cent from 20 per cent hit a roadblock this week, after the Coalition and Greens teamed up in the Senate to send the government’s overhaul legislation back to a second public hearing process...

From post #1 of the thread.
From my post #10 on the opening day

Unfortunately, the way it was set up meant it was always a disaster in waiting. :banghead:

We told you so............... sometimes it is so frustrating following current affairs, often it is so obvious what is going to happen. Like watching a train wreck coming along the line.

Not only NDIS, we now have the same thing coming with our power network

At least with Labor in power, these issues can be addressed, in a civil and balanced manner by the media. :xyxthumbs

In short:

NDIS Minister Bill Shorten will ban sex workers from being accessed using NDIS funding.

Disability advocates say it will put the choice of which people with a disability have sex in the hands of the government.

What's next?

A Senate committee is scrutinising broader NDIS reforms, and has invited state premiers to weigh in.

Ndis is absolutely ridiculous. There's too many stupid rorts

as they say, if it sounds too good to be true , then it usually is.

Latest joke is 12 per cent passive income from housing built for NDIS high needs cases. Turns out there aren't enough tenants, and the houses sit empty. Fees for the promoters keep flowing, though, according to reports.

from AFR

Investors in at least 14 schemes face the prospect that the funds in which they invested will be wound up after months-long searches to find high-care patients who qualify for government-subsidised rents under the NDIS failed.

The scheme was marketed by ASR Wealth and overseen by DomaCom, an ASX-listed investment platform chaired by former Liberal leader John Hewson. DomaCom allows investors to pool money into a single property by purchasing units in a managed fund

I'm hearing holiday packages as well running into $15k plus.
I honestly thought ndis was just some basic home care and housing mods to suit.
Not banging ho's and jet-setting. The scamming done by the providers needs to be clawed back.
