Navy in breast op row

I wander when will we hear about penis augmentation operations taxpayer sponsored?

Or advanced hair yea yea?

Or liposuction?

Or facelifts, maybe botox?

If one of the two persons mentioned in the media report is one of the more-than-two(?) people I know who have had augmentation surgery paid for by Defence, then it was well worth the cost and the effort.

The person I knew was quite "flat" and had to share her cabin with 5 other women who were considerably more "buxom"; this lead to feelings of inadequacy and she felt embarrassed to undress in her own mess-deck, to such an extent, she wanted to quit the service. She was given a full medical and psych evaluation and it was decided by the powers-that-be that she should have augmentation surgery. After the surgery she felt much better and happier, and the last time I saw her, she was still serving in her sea-going role.

The cost of the surgery? About $10K. The cost to re-train another sailor to do her job should she have quit the service? Several hundreds of thousands of dollars, plus the experience that she would have taken with her out of the service, plus the time factor.

Spending a little to retain people worth keeping is a good investment in any business/operation, especially now that Defence is having a hard time retaining the people they have and the declining recruitment. Of course, the media only want to tell you half the story; it is politically expedient for any Opposition to jump on a bandwagon going passed.

wabbit :D

Geez you may have something there wabbit, I might have stayed in the Army if they offered free penile implants to combat small man syndrome whilst having a communal shower.

Australias armed services are desperate to retain and recruit staff (probably because you can just go get a truck licence and drive around mines for double the salary without risking your life), so Incentives are obviously being thrown in now a days :D
