I am an experienced programmer who is considering developing some plugin software using The Metastock Development Kit (MDK). I was wondering if anybody on this forum has had any experience trying to use it.

Actually, I am planning to try and write a plugin, not for Metastock but for the Australian Metastock look alike program – Bullcharts. The Bullcharts people tell me that they used the Metastock MDK to write a plug in for TradeSim and say “that it should work for most situations”.

Even though I have found the technical skills and support from BullCharts very good, I am a tad skeptical about this claim. I would like to explore it a bit further before handing over $600 + to Equis for a copy of their MDK.

If anyone happens to have a softcopy manual for the MDK lying around that they would be willing to “loan” to me so that I can have a look at what is involved, I would greatly appreciate it.

If you can help in regards to the manual, please send me a private message.

Any other thoughts or comments would also be welcome.

Thanks in anticipation

Thanks for that.

I got in touch with wabbit. He thinks that plugins can be written for Bullcharts using the Metastock SDK plus of course a computer language such as VisualStudio(VC++6).

I will explore further.....

Tim,

Give me a very basic idea of a function you'd like to see for BullCharts. I will code up a "quickie" so you can see if it works?

wabbit :D

With a bit of help from Wabbit I managed to compile and run the demo plugin, provided by Metastock with their plugin development kit, (MDK) in Bullcharts.

It looks like plugins can be written for Bullcharts using the Metastock MDK. It also seems likely that many existing metastock plugins will work in Bullcharts.

If you try any of this, I wouldn't be expecting any formal support from the Bullcharts people except for the TradeSim plugin which they do support.
