I am happily using Metastock 8 with Windows XP but increasingly other online sites are forcing me to a higher version of Windows.
I take in ASX EOD as text data from Cooltrader and use the charts on metastock which I have enhansed with some specialised DLLs and also create text data files daily such as base metals, oil, $Av$US which I can load in the downloader and place on the Metastock charts.
Really need some help -
Will Metastock 8 run on Windows 8 if not on Windows 7 ?
Does the latest Metastock version force you away from txt data as input and force you to take the owners data feed ?
Will the old DLLs run on the new version of Metastock ?
I found Parateck too vague - I hope a few of you have been through this already.
Any comments or help or direction to a preivios thread would be appreciated.

Cheers David

I run MS7 on Windows 7. If necessary, right click on the MS icon > Properties > Compatibility and choose the appropriate OS.

I run v9 on Windows 7.

Does anyone know if Windows 10 will have the same right click ability ?

Time for Amibroker Boggo.
Can write to it with python.
I've seen some amazing
Possibilities.

Thank you all Very much for your replies.

I see I am safe with MS 7 or 8 with Windows 7 ( I assume all versions)
And thanks for the link to the Windows forum.

As Microsoft is advising moving from XP to windows 8 - I would now have to ask if there is any one using MS 7 or 8 with Windows 8 ?

Not withstanding I certainly have the windows 7 question well answered - thanks again.

I'm using Metastock 9.1 with Windows 8.1 and apart from the stock name and closing price details not displaying properly in the header bar at the top of screen, have had no problems whatsoever.
This is easily corrected by right clicking an inner window and selecting chart properties/chart titles.
I am sure MS 8 would be fine as well.

Can't speak for MS 10 at all.
