In their wisdom, and affecting so much of the worlds' affairs, the Council of Marrickville, which I believe is a nimby suburb south of the border, close to Sydney, has decided that it will boycott Israel.

It has a majority of Green Councillors who must have much vanqued over this resolution.

This is the real danger of The Green Party, to our national inclusive heritage. To be so korrect in your political beliefs that you fail to see the wider context.

Next , they will be setting aside camps where folk who don't agree with them can work and be free.

The council decided to boycott Israel in protest over its treatment of Palestinians.

The Greens-controlled Marrickville Council passed a motion in the final weeks of December pledging to effectively sever all commercial, sporting, cultural, academic and government links with the state of Israel.

What a load of absolute tossers.

Just another fundamental evil along with coal, iron ore, electricty use at night and the general desire to better one's self.

Labor should have realised something was wrong when it saw the bed sheets were leaves stiched together with couch grass.

At least, Marrickville will not be getting one of those stupid jewish "eruvs" (symbolic fence constructed of poles and wires) like they have in the eastern suburbs of Sydney including being a blight on the world famous beachfront of Bondi Beach.

The Jewish community of St Ives in the northern suburbs of Sydney are pushing to have a "eruv" of approximately 20 kilometres constructed around the whole suburb.

Bizzarely, Jews are forbidden from "pushing" or "lifting" anything on the Sabbath unless they are within the bounds of one of these "symbolic" yet tangible "eruvs" (fences). "Pushing" includes pushing a pram, even pushing a pedestrian traffic light button! "Lifting" includes lifting a child or even lifting a set of car keys!

I think it is time these practicing Jews caught up with the 21st Century instead of trying (sometimes successfully) to drag the rest of the community back to the dark ages.

Making history, I'm a little bit with Macquack here.

Of course local government should stick to local issues, and if I was a ratepayer I would be asking questions.

But frankly I understand where the councillors are coming from, and so do Palestinians on the West Bank. Walk a mile in their shoes. They face relentless encroachment and depredation from the Israeli settlers, and nobody in the western world prepared to speak up for them.

Except it seems, Marrickville Council. However symbolic their action.

The issue of Israel and the Palestinians is much broader, and very complex, and warrants a thread on it's own.

Agreed gg.

In the same vain as Sarah Palin's "blood libel" view. Couldn't call her a tosser though. LOL Maybe a foot-in-mouth candidate.

But seriously, I've tried to research on the web the Australian Greens Foreign Policy position with regard to suicide bombers and mortar shelling enthusiasts located in and around Israel.

All I could find was an article published by Green-Left Weekly and authored by none other than Noam Chomsky.

I suppose Saddam couldn't make enough money out of Oil after all. And certainly not enough polluting hydro-carbons to attract any decent critique worthy of publication in Green-left weekly or being given any attention by THE AUSTRALIAN GREENS.

Move on people THE GREENS are total knobs.

It just gets better, now they are threatening to boycott China!

Can't wait until they get a seat at the UN, I would love to see Jeff Fenech as special envoy - that will be a great leap forward for world peace.

Agree with all of above.

And these mung bean latte quaffing toads from Marrickville, could never represent Australia as they've probably never ever seen a croc, roo, barra or tit, except on the silver screen, at the local film festival of course, nothing as common as going to the cinema.

Green = Fascism.
