Market response to the Election outcome

Can't see a thawing of relations with China. First thing Albo did as PM was hop on a Plane and make a commitment to the U.S., Japan and India, China's biggest adversaries.

After close to two-and-a-half years of a Chinese cold shoulder, Beijing has moved quickly to show it's willing to patch things up with the newly elected Albanese government.

Premier Li Keqiang's congratulatory message would be routine under normal circumstances, but the warm language referencing the Whitlam Labor government's establishment of diplomatic ties with the People's Republic 50 years ago set the tone.

Mr Li said China was "ready to work with the Australian side to review the past, face the future, uphold principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit" — a far cry from the Cold War mentality language often hurled at the Morrison government.

And as Mark McGowan said - "...you can have a very strong relationship with the United States, Briton and our other Allies, and a productive relationship with China..."

China will watch and assess carefully , that is a given

am not sure India ranks as high on that list as you think , in 20 years time , maybe , India could easily become the second largest economy ,

currently cooperation with India would make a lot of sense ( for China )

“Still, the ALP has an electoral incentive to consolidate the big swing against the Coalition in seats with a high proportion of Chinese speaking voters, especially with Peter Dutton set to assume leadership of the opposition. And there is a broader national interest in stabilising and then improving bilateral relations from a very low starting point.”

Mark McGowan displays good common sense with intelligence & seems a very likeable Politician/Leader imo (my preferred pick for Prime Minister as think Australia would be/do much better as a result with him in charge).

P.S. I'm not from WA either lol and usually dislike Politicians of all persuasions in general
