Hi all,

Just to throw it out there... I am moving to London with my young family at the end of the year.

We are looking to find a decent area to live, preferably north of London within the first 3 tube zones... I have heard conflicting reports about Tottenham... we are looking for a 4 bedroom place fully furnished to split with some friends.

I lived out of London, in Luton, in 2005. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Brad

Is your heart really set on London? There are plenty of other nice spots (Oxford, York, Wales) that I think would be nicer for young kids that a tiny Totty flat? But I suppose you have work lined up...

As you've lived in Luton, Tottenham will look like paradise.:2twocents

Im a londoner (well not anymore :))

Not north but look at Wandsworth, nice area with many young families, although not cheap but that could be said for any area of London.

Dont Know much about Tottenham except they have a terrable football team, im biased though as im a West Ham supporter :D.

Yeah have to agree Wandsworth is quite nice. Used to live around the corner in Clapham a couple of years back, there are some nice areas in the borough.

Where abouts are you working? Canary Wharf? You may want to check out Greenwich, Blackheath or Hither Green as they are in close proximity to CW.

Further west you could probably checkout Wimbeldon and it's surrounds. Never lived there myself, but had quite a few friends that did. Quite a nice part of London.

A lot really depends on whereabouts you'll be working and what sort of commute you can tolerate. The journey can be come pretty tedious and draining - london transport will do that to you. The shorter and quicker the journey, the better.

Lol... yeah, Luton was kind of like... errrr... Karachi! I lived there for six months while teaching. This time, I want to be near enough to the city.

Although, there are some really nice places surrounding Luton - such as Harpenden. Want to be able to jump on a train and take the journey into London without paying through the nose.

Cheers
