Clearly seen across US and Australian Markets. In fact most markets.

Tuesday looks good!
Monday will see bargain hunters.

Surprised I haven't seen this brought up by the Fundamental fraternity.

I was talking to a broker yesterday who mentioned the same thing.

Not sold on the idea myself and may be a good shorting opp in the futures or Index CFD,s, if enough people think the market is going to have a good day. futures may well open way too high which on occasion they do, so a short with a tight stop may do very well if any big move doesnt eventuate

historically though the first trading day of the month is a good day to be buying.

Not sure about tax loss selling in the US as doesnt there financial year run April to March ?.

Tech, I'd never thought you were one to be thinking about "reasons" behind price movements.

I figured like me, you would rather leave that to the analysts.

Tech,
I can't get the message. When you say Tuesday looks good do you mean good for buying, trading or for selling. What is good for one may not be for the other.
As basically a fundamentalist I hold on the value of a stock and trade the variations above and below my assessment of it's value AS IT RELATES TO OTHERS. This situation occurs regardless of the overall value of the market. I use the fluctuations in the market where I find one stock moves out of sync with another. Some stocks react slower than others .eg. If the nickel price falls some stocks fall more than others in the first instance where others take a day or two to get the message.
Where the end of the financial year is concerned I suggest there will be heavy selling in those stocks where there has been large falls in SP as people look for tax deductions. Selling will be light in those with great capital gains until July. That is normal each year but this year there will be plenty of investors with some pretty hefty losses. In my opinion this is why stocks like CNP have been slow to improve with the good news on refinancing.
