I didn't realise that candidates were late getting prepared in NSW. That is very poor form considering the election could hardly have been a surprise (it having been a very long first term for a federal government). This lack of preparedness must raise further doubts.

Maybe Rudd's swift removal and then an election called a couple of weeks later caught them a bit by surprise.

Let's not jump to judgements based on assumptions.

If the situation were reversed and if it were labor that had been caught out in such a manner, it would still all be the coalition's fault!

The government elected in 2007 served a record length first term, for any government since WW2. If the election came as a surprise to NSW candidates, then the depth of incompetence goes much further than first thought.

Here are some facts for you (I imagine you will ignore):

If the election is held in August, the Labor government will have served 2 years and nine months since being elected under Kevin Rudd in 2007 ... considerably longer than every other first term government since the Second World War, as shown by the following table.
