Considering the Nats have their own leader are they backstabbing anyone?

John Hewson was very uninspiring. Saw Hawke handle him in parliament across the table.

I agree with you, he wasn't up to it at all really. And I think my comparing Abbott to Hewson shows what I think of Abbott.

I was going to compare Abbott to Latham (which I have done before), but that is just too cruel.

Pretty much my only concern is to get a winning attitude back. All this excuse-making, defeatism, 'good election to lose', since Aug 21 ... I find uninspiring and weak. And if the next election is 6 to 12 months away, there really isn't time for this defeatism at all.

As you know, I don't like Abbott, and I really thought the results from this election were not good enough, but I would be interested to hear from others on who they think is an alternative.

I agree, the two threads I started seem to have produced much heat, little light, so far (some exceptions of course).

Gotcha Timmy. At least we do know who the faceless men of the Labor Party are. They are, in many cases, the ones who have not been elected but nevertheless dictate the terms to the Labor Party puppets.

Yes Timmy, I saw them, but what are you trying to prove?

I also saw the photos of some of the Labor party faceless men. Where was Howes and Feeney and who knows some others who were missing from the photo.

Fact is Malcolm could buy and sell the lot of them / is the only one who actually made a quid in the real world and represents the true spirit of the Liberal party that Menzies foundered.

Australia will only tolerate the attach dog BS from the Coalition for so long.

Arbib mooted the motion. Shorten announced it after he came back from WA with Rudd. Shorten went to dinner in a Korean restaurant and gathered 39 members to ratf@ck Rudd. The other two managed the stragglers and to shore up Swan to be deputy to Gillard.

Mark Arbib was born on the 9th November 1971. His father is of Libyan descent and is a property developer. His first job was at Sizzler where he unionised the workforce and got the sack for being a prick.

I agree with your comments above. Do away with the political negativity just for negativity - highly recommended for any pollie. But it can be hard to make a point without the clear and undeniable fact that Labour has been atrocious. With the broader public not too savvy with economics and not willing to give up forms of welfare it must be difficult as an opposition to pick the right line of attack be that ferocious and negative or polite and informed - either way not taking away from the fact that Labour has been atrocious. Which is more effective? It's hard to say.

I saw in a paper yesterday I think where they say the Libs should have got more in NSW and should not have lost the seats in victoria. Considering they were only getting candidates ready just before the election in a few seats in NSW they haven't done well with the preparation. It could have been much better, but there was some issue with the party there not just Abbott in choosing candidates - read that recently.

Latham sure was a piece of work in the campaign. Not sure anyone could be compared to him at the moment - not in a bad way.

I didn't realise that candidates were late getting prepared in NSW. That is very poor form considering the election could hardly have been a surprise (it having been a very long first term for a federal government). This lack of preparedness must raise further doubts.
