England batsman Kevin Pietersen has been ruled out of the rest of the one-day tri-series after breaking a rib when he was struck by a Glenn McGrath delivery in the first match against Australia on Friday.
The South African-born batsman is to return home after he received an agonising blow from the Australian paceman at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

SHANE Warne could be on the verge of taking a job to help England regain the Ashes. Warne's willingness to help the Poms emerged a day after England coach Duncan Fletcher revealed his intention to have Warne assist the country's young spinners.
In his London newspaper column yesterday, Warne confirmed his interest in a role with England's team – as spin rival Monty Panesar revealed in his column that rumours persist "about England wanting to offer Warne a coaching job".
Panesar's veiled confirmation, along with Fletcher's stated interest and Warne's willingness, add up to bad news for Australian cricket fans.
As well as being the greatest spinner the world has seen, Warne has a smart tactical brain and would prove an invaluable asset to England.
His willingness to help England was made clear, although he kept the details vague. He said he was interested to read Fletcher's comments and was also emboldened by a dressingroom chat with Panesar following the last day's play in Sydney.
"Of course, there is a big difference between an informal chat, where you wouldn't dream of asking for a cent, and actually being employed," Warne wrote. "I am not sure what Duncan has in mind, whether it is for me to go around the counties or for bowlers to come to see me at Hampshire."
Warne's management company in England said the spinner wanted to take the next three months off to rest, spend some time with his family and consider his future. TV deals with major English networks have landed on the company's desk, as well as roles in Australia, but Warne still has two more years on his Hampshire playing contract.
"The fact is I haven't heard anything from the ECB, so I can't say yes or no," Warne wrote. "I have an affection for England and a house in Southampton. "And I've helped out England bowlers in the past. I am a big believer in players learning from each other. "That is what happens – or should happen – at the end of every match or series."
Panesar and Warne chatted for more than 30 minutes after the Sydney Test about the intricacies of spin bowling. "He is pure gold so I am sure the Australians will want to keep hold of him, but the idea of working with him is so exciting," Panesar said. "He could be an incredible inspiration to me."
Warne said his Australian manager James Erskine was talking to Cricket Australia about ways for him to stay involved with Australia and that "Australian cricket is my priority". "Beyond that, I also want to make sure that cricket stays healthy worldwide," he said. "So I would not have any problem helping in England, New Zealand, South Africa or anywhere else."
