1/04/2007 - Despite mounting pressure on Labor to ditch its no new uranium mines policy, with some senior ALP figures and hundreds of industry supporters now spruiking the future of nuclear power, today both Kevin Rudd and Paul Holloway announced the policy will not be altered whatsoever until at least 2011.

South Australian Mineral Resources Minister Paul Holloway told the 350 delegates at an uranium industry conference in Adelaide on Thursday the policy, which bans development of new mines, was up to date.

Holloway said Australia was unique in its ability to supply uranium to the world so it did not need to act now to take advantage of booming prices.

"The ALP does not need to change its policy, because here in South Australia there are projects that are well on the way to beginning the approvals process," he told the Paydirt Australian Uranium Conference.

"So, potentially, we do not have mines coming up for approval in the relatively near future, and they will represent millions of dollars of investment and hundreds of jobs."

Labor policy, in place since the 1980s, allows the continued operation of three existing mines, but no new mines.

Kevin Rudd said it was also important for all readers to check the date of the announcement.

Yeeeeouch... :banghead:

Is this from a credible source? Cos you know what day it is :) :banghead: :banghead:

Having said that...Australia has always been "risky" when it comes to uranium play.

Did not catch many if any. You need to consider a hair colour change.

I suggest red, then you might look a bit like Nicole Kidman. I forgot to mention I do not count Halba as a catch because he has a good excuse. In fact I wonder if Halba was at an April 1 party.

Yeah, a bit of fun in this game never hurts..:)

I wish I had thought of it....

"Bendigo Town Hall has been swollowed up by the earth after an acrow prop snapped in the roof of the mine shaft, killing the Mayor, and crushing BDG's prospects, further delaying gold production. The company has been placed into receivership... "

Nothing would shock with this company...

Just joshing of course. :D
