Did anyone watch this? I caught a bit of it, and though it was interesting, I was left with two thoughts:

1. What is his purpose in doing this? Michael Pascoe from SMH reckons here he did it for his bid for the upcoming casino hotel, but I query whether he'd cry and use his father for such a purpose.

2. Why do it on Channel 7 when he owns Channel 10??

Why? Therapy. It's like having a shrink listen to all your emotional stuff, but magnified by a million. Haven't you noticed...it's all the rage nowadays. Footballers love it. Pollies love it. You start out with "I made a mistake...." and the idea is that because you admitted to an error that makes you a hero.

Why channel 7? Willessee is a good listener. Therapy works better when the person interviewing you is a good listener.

There's no ulterior motive here.

I think only Michael Willesee could have got this done, it was brilliant TV.

Why did he do it ? Frankly I think he's got a bit of depression, thats how he came across.

The thought of the Casino crossed my mind too, left me wishing he gets it, but there's no way a man would sell his soul like that for that reason.

It was genuine but I still think he's depressed.

It is great to see the human side of these people on t.v, I find it heart warming.

Hawke, Rudd, Gillard, Roxon, Albanese, Bowen have all shed a tear on t.v and proves to us all that they are caring people, good on them.

It has the opposite effect on me. As soon as I saw there were tears involved I gave it a wide berth. Fed up to the back teeth with all this public blubbering that goes on these days.

I didn't see it and don't want to especially, but agree absolutely with being fed up with all the weeping in public.
Along with the public admissions of "I've had Depression (with a capital D) for years", a la Ian Thorpe.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't find James Packer that interesting. He's inherited a lot of wealth and that's about it. Although his father did the same, he actually took that wealth and grew it substantially.

People seem to want to see this stuff, so they can feel they're discovering the human side of these people.. I don't see the attraction.

I don't have a problem with people stating they've had a mental illness, "admission" is a bit of a strange word - it assumes they've done something wrong. There is still far too much stigma in this area.

Oh come on people, I said that tonque in cheek, where is has the sense of humour gone.

Julia must have had onions stuffed down the bra to bring up tears.

This was worth seeing Julia......really.

Sorry, was a bit surprised at your response I must admit. Maybe use one of these next time  for those of us a bit slow on the uptake ;)
