Is Luck something you find or do you make it?

Why is luck connected to money. Could it not be lucky to be healthy or lucky to meet the right people or again lucky to be a citizen of the lucky country. Maybe it is unlucky to be continually focussing on money.

While reading this, I thought:

I was looking down to avoid trip hazards.
Luckily I often avoid them, saving me a fortune in Physio fees.

Is everyone up for a little fun?

Who is the luckiest person at this moment in time (given that it can fluctuate to some degree)?

Pick your stock at close today. Your entry price is the closing price. Tomorrow's open price determines the winner. In other words, the biggest overnight gap wins.

The winner then nominates a stock for all participants to buy for the day, after open.

The premise, which will be proven or disproven tomorrow, is that winning form is good form. I predict the winner will be able to find a good performing stock tomorrow after open. Make sense?

Entries must be in before 4.30pm today.

I picked NTUOB as the stock for today. It is not luck that makes it one of the best gains for today. It was chosen because its price is tied to some extent with the SP of NTU. It is an option to purchase NTU at a price of 15c. On Friday it closed 25c less than the heads. I won't be around tomorrow but whoever wins would probably make an informed choice that was right on the day. Probably it will have nothing to do with luck. Tomorrow NTUOB would not win as it made up the gap today but there will be anothe like it. ;)

Firstly this story sums up my understanding of luck, be it good to bad to good again.

“Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?”

A farmer had one old horse that he used for tilling his fields. One day the horse escaped into the hills and when all the farmer’s neighbors heard about it, they sympathized with the old man over his bad luck. “Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?” said the farmer.

A week later, the horse returned with a herd of wild horses from the hills and this time the neighbors congratulated the farmer on his good luck. “Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?” said the farmer.

Then, when the farmer’s son was attempting to tame one of the wild horses, he fell off its back and broke his leg. Everyone agreed that this was very bad luck. Not the farmer, who replied, “Bad Luck? Good luck? Who knows?”

Some weeks later, the army marched into the village and forced every able-bodied young man to go fight in a bloody war. When they saw that the farmer’s son had a broken leg, they let him stay. Everyone was very happy at the farmer’s good luck.

I have a lot of experience with "luck" and can admit that sometimes I'm lucky and sometimes I'm not. No rhyme nor reason nor state of mind. Mind you, I don't consider dealing with human beings as having anything to do with luck, like betting on the footy or a horse controlled by a human being and especially the direction of security prices. ;)
So no I don't believe you find it or make it. Sometimes you have it and sometimes you don't.

There is 2 types of luck.

1 absolute dumb luck...lotto winners, married great women/men, had talent and or wealthy parents etc.

and

2 calculated luck...persistent and driven at school, pursued a career, selected a good wife/husband, developed a skill or skills to improve there talents etc.

IMO
