can anyone from Australia receive any data?
All OK on the ASX.
can anyone from Australia receive any data?
FX is finished for now thanks to the losers at ASIC. See this thread:FX market data is no longer free now?
the website still seems to indicate that it is (https://www.interactivebrokers.com.hk/en/index.php?f=14193&ns=T) but my FX watchlist was totally blank on the IB iphone app when i was checking it at work today, then on logging onto TWS at home all the FX instruments were filled with "Subscribe to market data" buttons. is it working for anyone else?

You should've received an email from them the day before. Aussies can no longer trade FX. Even non leveraged fund convertions. Your link has .hk in the end so might not be relevant.
Ridiculous, have to migrate my FX trading with open positions with only 2 days notice. Not "Proffessional's" gate to the market anymore as their slogan claims.
Pepperstone it is.
I trade through a comp/trust as well.
Thursday my forex screen was blank, i just went and re registered my trading subscriptions and all was good ( still is ). Could trade forex again. So it only seems to affect individuals.
Perhaps they just wiped ALL trading permissions for aussies, but will only allow corp/trust to re subscribe

didn't seem to work, but i guess i'll have to wait until market open tomorrow to know for sure.
did you go into account management, and from there manage account -> trade configuration -> permissions? i tried that and it had the leveraged forex and FX conversion boxes checked, but disabled. after hitting continue and going thru all the required risk profile + agreements etc. screens, on the final screen it did not list either leveraged forex or FX conversion, only the non-FX instruments for which i had permissions previously.
nope, didn't work. still no FX prices. you wouldn't happen to remember what you clicked on to get them back? i couldn't find any other way to do this apart from manage account -> trade configuration -> permissions, which i already tried but it didn't change anything.
You can run two separate portfolios in fact you can run many.
You can allocate funds to each.
I'm sure for the corporate client they can run them totally autonomously.
I guess this is what you want so they have separate reporting/accounting?
Hi Tech,
Thanks for your reply. I didn't realise this could be done. I looked but can't find info on it and will get onto IB.
I want to limit my exposure on margin if possible.
Split my capital in half to 2 portfolio and use the margin on one portion but not the other.
Cheers.
I think the USD10 minimum monthly fee will apply to each sub account separately.
Thanks bellenuit, a bit of insurance
Got onto IB and you login to account and it is in Manage Account - Add / Link Account - Add Authorized Trader and you login to TWS and trade under this account.
Only thing, bit of fiddling around and have to send all the ID stuff for myself again
Just email them with your original account number ... If they have your original files they'll just use them and you shouldn't need to resend them. It worked for me
