Yes,I'm thinking the pledge stuff in both clauses 14&15 of the customer agreements applies to stock, but clause 15 does say "assets of any kind". While the people on the chat lines are generally pretty good there is not much point asking them about these legal type issues. I'm going to see if I can get an answer from one of the compliance officers (they are lawyers).

Also note that I'm now aware of some people who have SMSF accounts with IB and have had these clauses removed from their customer agreements, but this was a while ago.

Interesting. I will be very interested if you can manage to get to the bottom of this. It seems to me that some of the agreements of cfd providers are equally ambiguous. Even though ATO rulings have OK'd their use for SMSF in a manner similar to futures.

Hi All,

I've been stuck trying to correctly export forex data for the past few days

The pair I'm trying to export is the GBP.AUD and the timeframe I need is the 1-min and the daily.
The problem is that if I export IB data via a 3rd party program such as amibroker or ninjatrader, the data does not match what is displayed via the TWS charts.
Furthermore, when the data is compressed into daily bars (as in amibroker) the O, H, L and C are completely incorrect and do not correspond to what is shown in TWS.

I have a feeling that this might be due to a time zone discrepancy but I have tried every damn combination to resolve it and nothing has worked!
I have tried to directly import data from IB using the DDE Excel spreadsheet but it fails with anything more than 1 week's worth of 1-min data. The same applies for the ActiveX Excel spreadsheet.
I have tried to use the sample VBActiveX programs that IB supplies with their API but they also fail (perhaps because I am using Windows 7 64-bit).

Does anyone have a solution to this?
All I want is the 1-min data that is visible on my damn TWS Charts arghhhhhhh!!!!!:mad::mad:

Export EOD or Intraday to .csv file

I've never use this before, read the notes in the file.

Superglue,

Thank-you for the suggestion but I think I might have misled you. I meant that I was having trouble exporting data from IB and into amibroker i.e. importing data into amibroker via the IB plugin.
I adjusted the database setting->intraday settings-> daily time-compression uses so that the bars in amibroker would better reflect the bars in IB TWS. To do this I changed the 'trading hours' from 0900 start to 0900 end (day session) and 0901 start and 0859 end (night session).

I've posted 3 examples (the other is in the post below) below to show the discrepancy between the actual data (in IB's TWS) and what is displayed on Amibroker.

Example 1
ex1.1.jpgex1.jpg

Example 2
ex2.1.jpgex2.jpg

In example 1, we are at the extreme end of the data range and viewing the last bar. The OHLC values are all correct, except for the fact that the date is wrong: it is 22/01 in TWS and 23/01 in AmiBroker.
In example 2, we are a few bars behind the first example and are having the same issue.
In example 3 (see images below), we about 3/4 into the data range and it is now wrong. The dates are off and the H, L and C values are wrong. If I further investigate it and look at the hourly chart, then there is a timeshift occurring that shouldn't be taking place.

My bad.
Thought you wanted to save intraday data from IB via Amibroker.
I have not had much success with the above.

Anyway my Amibroker data settings is as attached.

I tried the settings posted by Trash in the "Amibroker FAQ" thread, but the intraday data stopped at 12 midnight & I had to reset my data setting as attached (my previous settings).

I am able to display daily price chart using the intraday data, but it is only about 15 bars or so.
That is really of limited use.

Not sure whether my data settings is the best but it works for me anyway. Touch wood.

Hope this is of some help.

I use IQFEED real time data and this is the preference window shot of my Time Stamp and refresh interval settings.

Anyone got problem with IB data from Hong Kong. All i see with HSI, MHI, HHI etc are the flat lines on top of the charts? The rest of the data is good, ie K200, Spi...

Does anyone know what the situation is with the margin for Aussie stocks on IB?

I remember previously there was a 2:1 borrowing ability then this ceased.

Does anyone know what the current situation is? Is this available again? or no margin?

Probably because as per ASIC this margin lending was illegal and whatever money IB made because of margin lending was also not legal, so ASIC asked IB to refund all those minus the real costs.

So is this margin lending still illegal? Is that what the issue is with IB in Australia?

I really don't understand why there is no margin lending.

Are you able to explain it?
