Hi there, I'm Sydney based looking for assistence, hands on help using interactive brokers on US option trading. I know what I want to do, know my strategies, but for the life of me can't get on a roll. Keep getting obsticles put in my way for actual trading. Are there people out there that would allow me look over their shoulder for few hours and ask questions so as to short circuit the bull**** and get started...down to business? I am totally frustrated. Being Australians we are seriously limited to who accounts with. I've tried several other common big names that my international colleagues use but we don't qualify. I could use little help if there's some kind willing Sydneyite. IB help is pot luck. Some very helpfull people but just as many seem to know less than I do and are useless.

I do trade options with IB, but just write covered call options and nothing else. I can answer a specific question there but my experience with other than covered calls is limited.

Hi Bellenuit, I ended up trying out Schwab... its a bit of 6 of one and half a dozen of the other... Pro's & Con's both ways
Schwab doesn't have a paper trading platform. Well they do but only for the day you are logged on. One can day trade but that doesn't help for longer than intraday trades. You said you do options. Is that Aust market or OS? Does IB live trade ASX as well as US & others? Since schwab took over Options Express they closed the international account exchange they had for their users so now Am looking for favourable money exchange for TX & RX of funds between US & AUS. Any comments. And many apologies for the rude delay in coming back to you after your kind offer.

I do US options only, but as I said just covered calls. Yes IB live trades US and Australia, though I don’t use them for Australia anymore. That is mainly because I wanted to limit my exposure to any one broker and it made more sense to split it that way, particularly as IB doesn’t use Chess. For money exchange I doubt you will find better than IB as many have attested to on these Forums. I often buy and sell between AUD 10k and AUD 40k and pay a commission of just a few dollars (AUD 2 to 3). The exchange rate I get is usually so close to the spot rate that there seems to be little difference between them (it seems to be within the range the spot rate would fluctuate within during and normal 5 minute period).
