I have done reasonably well during my 1st six months with a simple MS exploration that looks for uptrending stocks which have made RECENT (not necessarily all time) highs.

Not 1 single hit during the past 2 weeks so understandably I am getting a little bored due to lack of action.

What got me thinking was the recent happenings on the DOW.
The other night it came back 300 points during the last 20 minutes of trade and then rose 300+ points at the first 10 minutes the next day.

Thats a 600 point turnaround in about 1/2 an hour.

How on earth do you code for something like that.

I tried .... IF US market is rational =1 but that didn't score either

If Mr Spock (Star Trek for the younger uneducated:) )was capable of emotion he would be appauled

In the meantime I have made zilch during the past week while others are making heaps.
I just can't bring myself to change my trading plan yet .. in case this is a flash in the pan.

Any new coding would be greatly appreciated please

Confusedly yours

Rob

It has been a week to be bullish and trade ,as the saying goes, by the seat of your pants. I have had a good 10 days by looking at the fundamentals and selling some that I FEEL will be slow to recover and buy some that, IN MY OPINION, should not have fallen as far as they did. It is a time to forget charts as this market is not rational.

I have no idea what your code looks like or what your system does...but if intraday moves bother you, can can always trade end of day...and if you want to eliminate intraday extremeties from your EOD system you can base your decisions on closing price...and if the daily closing price volatility is too much you can try weekly...or weekly closes if you want to eliminate the intra-week extremeties.

Disclaimer: Using weekly closing prices is likey to be boring.
