Interesting and excellent article in The Guardian on how people deal resolve arguments.

Some very useful tips IMO. Any other suggestions ?

Don’t forget where you’re trying to go

I remember what my father said to me: “Is it worth being right?” Then I take a deep breath and tell myself we have the same destination, just the route may differ.

Thought this was worth quoting from the above story.

Have a safe phrase

I touch him lightly on the arm and say “I need your attention”. This is a safe phrase. He knows from previous arguments that he must look at me with eye contact and try to listen and respond or I will start screaming hysterically, which he hates.

Hehehe. That passage conveys quite a bit. Aussie women don't usually admit throwing hysterics is the ace card women hold :p Also, I expect that "I need your attention" isn't quite as formal-sounding in Italian as that translation seems to our ears.

And if the argument is with a woman, then give up, as she is never wrong and will always come out the winner.

then give up
Wise words , wise indeed.

Simple and it works.
Never had a problem . Most men never learn this .

I find curling up in foetal position in the corner and waiting till it's all over (which may last for hours) the best strategy for survival.

Under no circumstances say anything but "sorry", never let her trick you into any discourse :p

I find that wandering over to the shed and pottering there until the cooler breezes come forth is the best place to hide.

Advice from my father on my Wedding Day
When you marry you become the head of the household. When you are the head of your family "to be a real man" you must have the last word. That last word should always be - "Yes dear!"

After 50 years of marriage, it’s clear that his wisdom has been a guiding light in my marriage.

Skate.

And as a rider "She who is Indoors, should/must be obeyed always. Happy wife is most definitely a happy life.

I always find "shut up and make me a sandwich" works a treat.

After I wake from the resulting coma, the conflict is well behind me and I got to catch up on some sleep.
