Horse meat

Same here.

Do you hate pigs and lambs or did you get a memo from god saying that horses were a higher form of life? Or, jokes aside, what is it that makes you happy to eat one animal and not another?

Or a nice filly mignon

It's a fairly common meat in some parts of the world.
Recently in South America I ate sausage a few times and was advised it was made from horsemeat. It seems to be a little sweeter than the common meats here.
I may be on my own here as I know people who wont eat kangaroo yet I eat it at least once a week - it is one of the healthiest (if not the heathliest) meats you can eat, and does far less damage to the land than hooved animals do.

I find Kangaroo meat 'gamey'.
I think you'd have to get the best cut and slow cook it with a lot of added ingredients.

God told Adam he could eat any living critter that caught his eye, except Eve, of course. In her case he was limited to munching the mango.

Used to get our own kanagaroo and so am used ot it.

For game/strong meat, soak it in salted water for a while. Reduces the flavour. This is a common trick by the Chinese as they often don't like the strong flavour of meat - told this by quite a few Chinese friends. And it works. Did this with venison from an old male red deer.

Nun has noted the best cut, but the mince works well as a substitute for beef (low in fat, high in protein means it's perfect for bulking) and I find it better marinated.
I find it a quite strong smelling meat so cooking when there are veggos around is probably not a good idea.

Or an excellent idea, depending on the particular vegoes and your perspective.

Haha my g/f is a vego and has banned me from cooking this in her presence..

The cut along the spine you are referring to is called a "backstrap". Seared and served medium rare.

yep ..... and tastes mighty fine ....... also like mofra i have minced various parts of the roo but i add a bit of sausage meat or pork mince and a few onions and spices and make some bewt patties for the hotplate.

Roo a most underated meat.

instead of "hot dog" have a "hot hoof"

You'd have to be a total freak to eat a hoofed animal, right? Yeah, no sane person would ever eat one of those!

If you were a REAL psycho you might even consume the product of a hoofed animal's mammaries!

I just had this link emailed to me. A butcher in Perth is selling horse meat. Apparently 50,000-70,000 horses are killed for human consumption each year in Australia. The tree huggers are having a sook, and even giving this butcher death threats.

No offense to tree huggers who are sane; the insane ones give you (us?) a bad name.
